Bad taste/bad design is one thing, but I can't wrap my head around why anyone would want a toilet or a shower in their kitchen.

With the toilet, shower, kitchen sink, and laundry facilities all in one place, you only need to run plumbing and sewer lines to one room rather than two or three.

Yes but you have to admit that the toilet is quite tastefully disguised in that one about 3/4 of the way down.

That is either the result of extremely old construction or a slumlord retrofit. (Dividing one apt into two)

That first one looks like Liberace’s kitchen which I saw on a Barbara Walters special years ago - upholstered cabinets lol!
