They Came from Outer Space?

Post by Joe Guy »

I found these things growing hidden in the corner of my backyard. Anyone know what they are?

It's a COVID-19 bean pod.

Your collective inability to acknowledge this obvious truth makes you all look like fools.

Thanks. I'm gonna put on my mask and go out there and put yellow barrier tape around them and then try to get in touch with Dr Fauci and ask him what to do next.

Most likely Arum - Arum maculatum or Arum italicum in particular. Common names include Cuckoo Pint, Lords and Ladies in the UK, with other common names in other parts of the world.

Check out the link - pictures look very similar to what you have provided.

The berries are poisonous, in case you were at all curious about trying them.

Thanks, Scooter. I'm sure you got it right. They are definitely Arum. There are others growing that have green berries. I won't try eating them.

On my morning walk up Chapel Carn Brea today I was fortunate enough to witness a test firing of Cornwall's own anti-alien laser. This is hidden in the granite boulders adjacent to the alien detection array, which itself is cunningly disguised as the summer solstice beacon. (Bottom left of image below.)

They call them grockles in Cornwall. Come to that, aren't you one, Taff? Maybe the locals were just firing a warning shot across your bow.

Actually the correct term is "emmets', which is Cornish for ants. I'm neither grockle, nor emmet, as I'm a permanent resident.

Grockles are in Devon.
