Trump will very likely spend his night tweeting and proving Obama right.

He was very good, and Harris was as well. I wish they would do more of these live (or taped live) than the infomercial ones including several people talking in rapid succession or having shots from many different angles (one after the other) often with music punctuating the points. Sure, I may be cynical, but I feel like the Madison Avenue types are trying to manipulate me (or someone, most of those tactics turn me off and lead me to ignore the message).

It’s very different from what our age group are used to, but it’s the type of media that predominates today and it is meant to appeal to youth voters I believe. The media strategy seems very well coordinated for social media sharing and viral potential.Big RR wrote: ↑Thu Aug 20, 2020 4:28 pmHe was very good, and Harris was as well. I think the party is counting on older voters like you and me to be devoted to voting for policy reasons and out of concern for preserving our democracy, and not worrying about appealing to our musical or visual tastes.

True, but I do believe a better balance needs to be struck; and even millenials have to eventually learn that the policies are important; we are electing a president, not choosing a brand of beer.

Uh, yeah, I think "millenials" (a/k/a "kids today") are actually pretty tuned in to policy; they're the ones on the streets protesting, they're the ones who propelled Bernie's campaign.
From what I have seen (and I haven't nearly seen it all), I think the Dems have been doing a pretty good job putting on The Convention Show. But when I saw Prince Royce doing Stand By Me en espanol last night, I literally said, "They're really going for the boomers with this one."

GAH!

I’m certainly not dissing the younger generation of activists, but the fact remains that even in the record turnout of the 2018 midterms, the vast majority of the eligible youth vote did not get out to vote.Sue U wrote: ↑Thu Aug 20, 2020 6:57 pmUh, yeah, I think "millenials" (a/k/a "kids today") are actually pretty tuned in to policy; they're the ones on the streets protesting, they're the ones who propelled Bernie's campaign.

So yeah, I stand by my assertion that much of the media design of the convention is about stirring up interest in that demographic - oh maybe also because all the longtime experienced democrat pundits are all over the TV providing analysis based on their contacts within the Biden/Harris campaign. But what do they know?
All the major policy meat is available via Biden’s campaign webpages and has been for many months now. Vast majority of Americans don’t get into the wonk.

Re: THANK YOU PRESIDENT OBAMA!
I watched President Obama's speech last night via BSG's link, and I just replayed it this afternoon so that my wife (who hadn't seen/heard it) could watch it too...and it occurred to me, in the middle of that re-watch: here I am, listening intently to a 19-minute speech by the President of the United States—for the second time!—and if it were a speech by the current pResident I would have had to turn it off before the 19-*SECOND* mark or risk becoming violently ill.
*SIGH*
I miss him so much.
