Yes, I admit it I am a (Harpo) Marxist (John) Lennonist. And I believe to each according to his needs and from each according to his means.
I means I really need a Porsche.
The GOP take everything. Now I can't even be a red.

Re: I quit
If proposing something like that did NOT make FDR a 'socialist' or a 'communist' back then —
why is it that someone is a 'socialist' or a 'communist' if they call for the EXACT SAME FUCKING THING today?
-"BB"-
Yes, I suppose I could agree with you ... but then we'd both be wrong, wouldn't we?
Re: I quit
As I recall from reading accounts of his administration, he was blasted by the right as being "communist" many times by those on the right (and FWIW, a fascist dictator by some on both sides). Times don't change all that much.
Re: I quit
Yeah, there was definitely a lot of labelling FDR as either a communist or a fascist. Ironically, he probably prevented the U.S. from descending into a communist or fascist revolution, which was a realistic possibility had the conditions of the early 1930s continued.

Re: I quit
You talk like I like killing people; in spite of the fact that I chose the profession of violence I don’t like violence, but it is the only thing the thugs understand. I have never killed anyone and I hope it stays that way, but I have proved in my life I can do whatever has to be done. I didn’t join the military and become an active participant in the Cold War because I wanted to kill the communist, but because it needed to be done.Sue U wrote: ↑Wed Dec 16, 2020 3:15 pm"Marxist code."liberty wrote: ↑Wed Dec 16, 2020 5:28 am
This is Marxist code for I am communist:

I actually tell my kids they should consider re-locating to Shanghai if they want to get in on the ground floor; in terms of economics, that's going to be the place to be for the next 50-100 years.
If you support Communism you are mass murder by proxy.
But you are only interested in mindlessly labeling everyone a "communist" so you can advocate for their murder. You really should consider exactly who is the "mass murderer" in the fucked-up world inside your head.
At one time Nazism was a threat to freedom, but those times are long pasted. Now Nazism is just a few pathetic Individuals with no chance of taking over any country, but communism was and still is a danger to freedom with the increasing power of China it is growing a greater danger every year.
Do you agree that the potential slave has a right to resist the potential slave master? Communism is an insidious form of slavery where the slave is persuaded he is the master or at least the recipient of good things, but in fact, they are merely the property of the state. If communists are in danger of gaining power they have to be killed there is no other way, because if they gain power they will kill you.

You just haven't been paying attention for the last four years, have you — or even the last four months? Trump's latest tactics are straight out of 'Mein Kampf', and his mindless supporters, of which you proudly declare yourself one, are his brownshirts.liberty wrote: ↑Thu Dec 17, 2020 5:31 pmAt one time Nazism was a threat to freedom, but those times are long pasted. As for "the increasing power of China" — I dare you to look and see just where something like 80% or more of the technology you are using today comes from. Smartphones, computers, TVs, electronic security cameras — all made in China. THAT'S where their power lies, and that's why they are such a player in today's global politics .... because they are such a HUGE player in today's global economy.
And it's people like you and a lot of others (myself included) who figure that it's OK to pass over American companies in order to save a few bucks since the Chinese or the Koreans or the Vietnamese can make things a little cheaper that put them there, and have forced companies like RCA or Apple to outsource their production to these places in order to try to remain competitive.
So until you can show me that EVERY SINGLE SOLITARY THING YOU OWN — from the MAGA hat on your head to the off-brand copy of the Nike sneakers on your feet; from the car you drive to the cell phone you carry; from the TV you watch or the computer from which you post your brainless drivel — has a 'made in America by American workers from American material' stamp/sticker/tag on it (and by the way, it'll never happen), you can consider yourself to be just another one of those "communist supporters".

And come on Lib, there are many fascist countries that exist to aid and promote the capitalist companies that pout money into the pockets of the fearless leader. The people are just pwns of their leader and the capitalist masters.

Re: I quit
QED.
Yah, no. Fascism is a much greater and much more probable a threat to the US and European democracies than China is. China is an economic competitor, but it is has less than zero interest in disrupting the political status quo since regular and predictable bilateral trade with the US is in the interests of both countries.liberty wrote: ↑Thu Dec 17, 2020 5:31 pmAt one time Nazism was a threat to freedom, but those times are long pasted. Trumpism has narrowly missed its authoritarian goal solely because Trump himself is so incompetent and self-absorbed. But Trump merely inserted himself into an ongoing process begun over a dozen years ago to hollow out the GOP and turn it into a modern-day fascist party. And that he has been quite effective in doing, although in a far more ham-handed and chaotic way than had been planned. As I said more than a decade ago following the astroturf invention of the "Tea Party" faction:
It's not going to get better.Sue U wrote: ↑Wed Sep 15, 2010 5:59 pmJim, what you are witnessing is a genuine hijacking of the Republican party by powerful anti-tax, anti-regulation corporate interests working hand-in-glove with far-right extremist ideologues to manipulate an angry and ignorant bloc of the electorate. Recognizing that it could not successfully create its own independent neo-Fascist party out of whole cloth, the "Tea Party" funding is essentially nothing less than a wholesale purchase of the GOP apparatus in situ. It's a shrewd move: even if it doesn't result in electoral majorities, a sufficiently strident opposition can hamstring legislative initiatives of the majority (as we've seen the last 18 months). It's cynical, it's disgusting, and it's proving to be very effective. But if you're looking for a party of principled policy positions capable of the political give-and-take necessary for a functioning government, the GOP is no longer your first choice.
GAH!

Speak for yourself, dude. I avoid Chinese products when I can. (Sometimes, there is no alternative-I'm not sure I have seen a phone or laptop built anywhere else in 10 years.) I bought a phone from China when I had no alternatives (all I found were Chinese). As for "the increasing power of China" — I dare you to look and see just where something like 80% or more of the technology you are using today comes from. It is literally impossible to avoid all Chinese products-they're far too common. I do when possible, but my phone (Galaxy) and computer (Toshiba) are from China. (Though the winter wheels and tires I just dropped a pile of money on are not.) But you know that and are just shitposting.

Bullshit, you don’t know me if I make up my mind to do something, I do it. I don’t need any of their shit; I am not a fucking liberal snowflake. I would wear rags and pay more for my electronics before I would buy anything from them. I can't stop them from murdering, but I don't have to be a part of it.Bicycle Bill wrote: ↑Thu Dec 17, 2020 6:14 pmYou just haven't been paying attention for the last four years, have you — or even the last four months?
