From the 'why are these guys not in jail?' file

Post by ex-khobar Andy »

When GM closed their Lordstown OH plant, Trump jumped in with both feet and pushed a company called Lordstown Motors who had (or pretended that they had) an electric truck they planned to make.

Now the chief exec has gone and five more execs have managed to offload shares for $8 million just before they announced major losses. It must be true: it's in WSJ and (not paywalled) CNN. According to the WSJ report, the company has said that "the share sales were made for reasons unrelated to the performance of the company. " It was obviously just a coincidence that these guys sold their shares just before a major announcement that the quarterly numbers were bad. There are laws against this sort of thing.

If you believe that, I can sell you on the idea that the clearing of Lafayette Park (WDC) was so that Trump and his minions (Jared, Ivanka, Hope Hicks, Mark Esper, William Barr et al) could do a quick QA check on the contractors installing the fences. You know, to make sure that they were putting them in right side up and all that.

From the CNN piece:
Last week, Lordstown said that it has no firm orders for its vehicles, backtracking on assurances it made earlier this week that the company had enough committed buyers for its pickup truck to keep production going through 2022.

You don't suppose Trump had stock in the company, which he sold right before the end...?
