Adolescence

On Netflix - looks like it's really, really worth watching.

For me, it is far better to grasp the Universe as it really is than to persist in delusion, however satisfying and reassuring.

I saw it and agree it is worth watching, but i thought it fell into too many cliched tropes--the uncontrollable kids, bullying on the internet, schools that do little to nothing to keep the kids in line, overworked and jaded cops, uninvolved parents... I would have liked to see more (It was a 4 or 5 hour series) about some of the other kids including the victim to get a broader perspective, and even would have like to see what the police investigators were doing and what they uncovered. but that is not what the director and writer wanted to do,

The acting is quite good, at times even superb, but IMHO the writing doesn't live up to it. I also think the director got a little too enamored with the idea of doing a continuous film per episode, as it constrained a lot of what the episodes could show. I believe it could have been a lot better without this "experiment". None of these drawbacks are fatal--it's still worth the watch--but however good a hamburger is, I'd rather have the steak. Unfortunately, TV excels in turning steak into hamburger. IMHO, with a little tweaking, this could have been an excellent steak.

BSG--I'd be interested in your views.

Love it. Can I pass this on?

Be my guest, but to be honest, the steak into hamburger idea was not mine came from a review (I don't recall if it was for a TV show or a movie), years ago. It has stuck with me, however, and I have used it a number of times.

Paul Newman - asked about his marriage, said he'd rather stay home for steak than go out for a hamburger
For Christianity, by identifying truth with faith, must teach-and, properly understood, does teach-that any interference with the truth is immoral. A Christian with faith has nothing to fear from the facts
