Our local sportscasting radio station - KNBR - is currently covering the U.S. Open golf tour here in San Francisco at the Olympic Club. They're aren't exactly covering it shot for shot, but they're talking about it right there from the golf course. They've been on for about two hours so far.
Imagine the excitement as you sit on the edge of your recliner and hear the announcer explain how the greens were hand watered last night in order to keep them.... green-like and consistent.
In another segment they explained the layout of a 700 yard par five hole that follows a 100 yard par three.
Can you believe that? The very thought puts goosebumps on my arms.
News Flash! They just pointed out that a spectator had a heart attack on the fifth hole yesterday. He must have not only been watching the golfers, but also listening to the coverage.
God Almighty! You can cut the tension with a knife!
Now they are discussing the putting green. (shudder)
Tiger Woods is currently in the lead. People are flocking from all over the Bay Area.
There's still plenty of time if you think you can handle the pressure. It's right here.
It's not for the weak of heart, so be careful.
Almost as Exciting as Watching Cricket

Cheers Joe, but there's some wet paint around here I need to keep an eye on...
“If you trust in yourself, and believe in your dreams, and follow your star. . . you'll still get beaten by people who spent their time working hard and learning things and weren't so lazy.”

Okay, but is it being broadcast on the radio?Gob wrote:Cheers Joe, but there's some wet paint around here I need to keep an eye on...
There's no substitute for a broadcast blow by blow description of wet paint.
A good announcer can reach directly into your mind and describe the paint in such a pigmental way that he can prime you to be prepared and to welcome the colorful comments that eventually follow that first coat.

The excitement generated by golf continues....
Women accused of flashing at Illinois golf course
Tuesday, June 12, 2012
(06-12) 06:42 PDT Edwardsville, Ill. (AP) --
Two Missouri women are accused of showing off more than their putting skills at a southwestern Illinois golf course.
Madison County Sheriff's Capt. T. Mike Dixon says investigators responded to complaints of lewd behavior Monday at the Woodlands Golf Course in Foster Township and saw the women displaying their breasts.
Now, authorities in Madison County have charged 45-year-old Shelly Lewis and 43-year-old Alicia Binford of O'Fallon, Mo., with public indecency.
Binford and Lewis couldn't be reached for comment Tuesday. Binford's home telephone number has been disconnected. Lewis hasn't returned a message left at her home. Court records don't show if they have an attorney.
Both women are free on bond.

Women are excited by golf. Maybe it has something to do with the idea of a stiff flagpole planted in the hole of a well manicured green followed by well placed balls.
