Jack Reacher

Post by Joe Guy »

The film just released this weekend is "Jack Reacher" starring Tom Cruise.

A little research shows that the character that is Jack Reacher is "6' 5" tall (1.96m) with a 50-inch chest, and weighing between 210 and 250 pounds (100–115 kg)".

Tom Cruise is about 5'7" with heels on and 145 pounds with a sack agaweas in his pocket. (get it? A bag of Sacagaweas? ha ha ha...)

(And they say he might be a little light in the heels)

What's my point?

Now that I think about it I don't think I have a point...

It's had a slating off the critics over here. **/*****

I am reminded of Forrest Gump. A big.strong guy in the book, played by Tom Hanks. I think you have to take the film(s) on their own merits, and not worry about differences with the book. Either it's an entertaining movie or not. Leave it at that.

I read a couple of the Jack Reacher novels while in rehab. While I won't go see the film in a theater, I might make it a point to see it when it comes to regular/cable TV. (I don't go to many movies, maybe 1 every two years).
Tom Cruise is not how I pictured Jack Reacher.

My wife and I went to see Reacher, she is really the fan, and it wasn’t as violent as I thought it would be. I wonder if it was recut just before it was released because of Sandy Hook Elementary. It was pretty good; however; I asked my wife how much Tom Cruz added to the movie, she said nothing. As far as she was concerned a good narrator could have sit on the stage and read the book with the same effect. As she sees it, Lee Child, aka Jim Grant, the author, saved the movie. That might be a little harsh because I thought Cruz did pretty good with the physical disadvantages he has. But that brings up a totally different question: Why does such a small island, Brittan, produce so many talented people or is that a misimpression on my part?
I expected to be placed in an air force combat position such as security police, forward air control, pararescue or E.O.D. I would have liked dog handler. I had heard about the dog Nemo and was highly impressed. “SFB” is sad I didn’t end up in E.O.D.

Well LJ I was and then I wasn't but I am now. It's likely that in a few minutes I will not be thinking of Daisy for a while. I'm sorry Daisy for the thoughts/non-thoughts and for forgetting your name which of course is ... er... ah....
