People with GARAGES parking their cars on the SIDEWALK?
I think I am the only person in my neighborhood who parks a car in their garage (and most houses do have garages).
We do not have sidewalks, but planty of people park on the grass that ubuts the street. I put 1/4" steel rods (4' long) with reflectors on them to stop people from parking on my front grass. Not because I care about my lawn (aka crabgrass, dandilions and clover), but because the tires sink in just off the roadway and cause ruts which become mud puddles when it rains.

I can't see any pictures but if it's a big (aka wide) truck, even parked the legal distance fom the curb it is going to stick out farther than a car.

My wife gets upset when people park their car in front of my house. I have over 100feet of frontage so never is there not enough room for me to park on the street.
And the only time I park on the street is when I know I am going out again that day, otherwise it is in the driveway (the wifes car gets the garage).

Where there are sidewalks, the homeowner is usually responsible for the upkeep of the sidewalk but does not "own" it. Parking on sidwalks is prohibited in most towns/villages.

My biggest beef with parking is that people should park in the correct direction, something that seems to not be enforced here in suffolk county.

I don't know anyone who thinks they "own" the spaces in front of their homes, but as a matter of courtesy and obvious efficiency, it works best if people park in front of their own houses when that is possible. It is not always possible, of course, with guests, parties and what is probably part of the San Francisco story, a crowded neighborhood.
If you have a bunch of single family houses, that courtesy could work most of the time; when there are multi-family dwellings (and the entire neighborhood in the example I gave was 3+ family houses), not so much. Yes, it's a pain to have to park a few blacks (or more) from your house, but that's the way it is.

My Reva has started experiencing clear coat failure in the past year or two, first the roof but now the hood, too. I keep her reasonably clean but no way she gets washed once a week, every month or other month, maybe. She is 17 and just rolled over 170k miles; she runs like a well-oiled machine because I always followed my dad's directive to change the oil regularly. When I had the chance a few years back to replace her with a shiny newer car, I opted not to because she still ran great, was low miles for her age and no rust. I love her because she has taken me a long way on my journey - we've been together almost 12 years - and I took my first dog to the vet for euthanasia in her and my second dog's hair is still stuck in the seat cushions and I dunno, she's just a great car. She is all mine and costs very little to keep up and gets good gas mileage and she's just a tool, anyway.

I fucking hate people who judge other people by stupid shit like the kind of car they drive!!!!!!!!! :arg

Wow, Ass Cracker knows what a truck is. Will wonders ever end?

I think the woman is a snob she doesn’t want a truck in here neighborhood unless it parked at servants’ entrance.
Can anyone say Hyacinth Bu cke t , pronounced "Bouquet” ?

Sorry guys I am in a silly mood, I am happy for a change.
I expected to be placed in an air force combat position such as security police, forward air control, pararescue or E.O.D. I would have liked dog handler. I had heard about the dog Nemo and was highly impressed. “SFB” is sad I didn’t end up in E.O.D.

hah!

my truck has achieved sufficient age as to be no longer considered an eyesore!!!

it is now a respected elder..., with character and the wear and tear of a life fully lived.

it is a wonder of Americana and I am the keeper of the Ford......

even the police allow us to pass unmolested.....

well, every town stops me once, to determine legality..., but they leave us alone after that..... 8-)

Which engine? My Dak had 195K and ran perfectly. I drove many Dodge vans with the same engines that had 200,000 or even 300,000 miles.

We/I put 300k+ on my 225 slant six. 67 belvedere wagon dad bought new which he gave to me with 135k+ on it. Only "major" thing I did to it was new valves as it wasn't fond of unleaded gas. Nice pie shape taken out of the exhaust valves from no lead gas. Slant 6 heads are heavy too.
