So to summarize, he acknowledges that the U.S. has had a history of intentional, systemic race-based oppression from colonial times right down to the present day, that has been both directly and indirectly responsible for the economic disenfranchisement of African-Americans, and that said disenfranchisement will persist, perhaps in perpetuity. But that any proposed solution that targets improvements towards African-Americans must be categorically rejected because it violates his sensibilities, and only racially-neutral policies (read, those that will perpetuate the racial imbalance of the status quo) can be adopted.

The Case for Reparations

Read it, then offer substantive arguments against it - not ignorant race-baiting nonsense.

I'll offer the two most substantive argument there are ....
1)  Shit happens.
2)  Nowhere is it written that life was fair.

It never before occurred to me that I should be due reparations too. My great-great grandfather on my mother's side immigrated from Germany in 1840. At the age of 53 he enlisted in the Union Army as he knew that the cause of freedom for southern slaves was worth fighting for. He certainly didn't have to go. Unfortunately he died in a Confederate prison camp. I think the Confederate states should pay reparations to my family and me. If they chipped in a bit for those he helped to free, that would be fine too.

Note my tongue is firmly planted in my cheek, but it makes almost as much sense as reparations for blacks five generations removed.

The Welsh Not (also Welsh Knot, Welsh Note, Welsh Stick, Welsh Lead or Cwstom) was an item used in Welsh schools in the 18th, 19th and 20th centuries to stigmatise and punish children using the Welsh language.

Typically The Not was a piece of wood, a ruler or a stick, often inscribed with the letters "WN". This was given to the first pupil to be heard speaking Welsh. When another child was heard using Welsh, The Not was taken from its current holder and given to the latest offender. Whoever was in possession of The Not was encouraged to pass it on to any of their Welsh-speaking classmates by informing the teacher that they had caught someone else speaking Welsh. The pupil in possession at the end of the day was subjected to corporal punishment or other penalty (some reports suggest the punishment was administered at the end of the week, or at the end of each lesson)
