You were not using Stalin. Not in any way shape or form.
Perhaps Stalin was using us, but the end result was we got what we wanted, defeat for Hitler.
Gob, do think our nations could have defeated the NAZI without the help of the Soviets?
Soon, I’ll post my farewell message. The end is starting to get close. There are many misconceptions about me, and before I go, to live with my ancestors on the steppes, I want to set the record straight.

No way.

Well guys that is the generally held opinion; I have read and heard commentators state that it was a close thing as it was. If the Normandy invasion had failed or Hitler had gotten sick and were unable to interfere in the matters concerning the war they might have won. In a way Hitler was one of our best allies.
And a lot of people don’t realize how authoritarian the US federal government was during WWII, but it was needed otherwise we may have lost the war.

The Russian sustained 8,800,000 to 10,700,000 military deaths in WWII, maybe those should have been American and British service people.

FDR sitting next to the mass murdering psychopath Stalin really says nothing about FDR other than he was a pragmatist. We were using Stalin against the NAZI in the same way we later used third world dictators against the communist. We and the British were using the communist and Churchill summed it up for both of our nations when he said, “I would deal with the Devil to save my country”. And we did.
We weren't "using" anyone. Hitler ATTACKED Russia before we entered the war. We were allies of mutual convenience and necessity.

Had he not done so it is unlikely we could have invaded the continent and won the war.

An Allied victoery was a foregone conclusion for one reason: The Manhatten Project. It might have taken reducing a few cities to radioactive slag, but the Allied victory was assured.

You know that we shot our load with Japan don't you? the reason we hit them twice was to give the impression that we had many. truth is we were years away from having enough material for another one.
Okay... There's all kinds of things wrong with what you just said.

Well here's the thing about that...

If there had been no Russian Front, (and the the Russians lost closer to 30 million than 10 million http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Eastern_Fr ... _War_II%29) There would have been an additional 3 to 4 million German troops available to repel Operation Overlord in the West, and the D-Day landings would never have succeeded....

Jarl is correct on that score....

We would have prevailed over the Nazis without the Soviets, but we would have needed to use nuclear weapons in Europe to do it....

And whether or not the American public would have had the stomach to support that is questionable.
