I understand that, so far, D.C. has not had a murder this week. We've got about three more weeks to go to make it a full month. Let's see if we can reach a murder-free month in D.C., that would be a remarkable achievement. And maybe that success might encourage other state chief executives to attempt the same, at least in their highest-crime cities.
There are so many sources I couldn't decide which one to cite, but with regard to murders committed in Washington DC, the overwhelming weapon of choice was a firearm of one kind or another.   Or to put it another way, almost 85% of the murder victims in our nation's capital were people who were shot to death.

Too bad they didn't try to eliminate the primary device used to commit murder before they mobilized the storm troopers.

Yes, I suppose I could agree with you ... but then we'd both be wrong, wouldn't we?

I don't think Donald would suggest putting more federal funding and effort into dealing with root causes for crime in D.C. and other big cities. He would consider that to be too woke.

He doesn't actually care about violent crime in DC, because the VAST majority of victims of violent crime in DC are Black, and he doesn't care about Black people. Dubya cares more about Black people than Trumplethinskin does.
