But the cowards in government won't even get close.

"Mass Casualty" High School Shooting In Florida...

Post by RayThom »

I found an old bag of thoughts and prayers in my storage room. I just loaded them onto the truck and I hope they arrive safely and swiftly at the White House. Without them we are surely doomed as a nation.

Take that, you sickos!

CBS tv national news just broadcast an interview with several students from that school. On girl said (as I remember it) "I heard people talking on the news just an hour and a half after the shooting about gun control. This is way to early. . . . We can't have people using this for their political agenda."

I could not disagree more. Stopping this now should be on every political agenda. Doing, acting, NOW, not kicking it down the road. Doing something that will make a real difference, not cosmetics and show-boating, the way it has happened after every notorious shooting, starting clear back with Kennedy in Dallas.

I thought I had seen and heard it all, and I should probably avoid the comment sections of articles if I don't want to give myself a stroke, but I have just come across the third person who, despite Cruz's known actual ideological leanings, is claiming that he was "inspired by ISIS, because he is using their tactics."

So I guess that is going to be the new normal now, that every mass shooting in the U.S. is going to be pinned on ISIS. Jesus H. Fucking Christ, I almost wish I had been in that school so I wouldn't have to be listening to the torrents of idiocy being spewed from the right since it happened.

I believe we are lost - there will never be anymore gun control. I listened today as lots of angry pundits and victims vented on TV about how WE MUST DO SOMETHING! But I give it a week before it’s out of the news except for a few hour long retrospectives on the 20/20 type shows, and a month before it’s buried under Trump/Russia.

Jesus H. Christ, we stopped talking about 58 dead, 500 injured in Vegas within weeks! How the fuck does that not stay in the news for months?!

The spineless politicians are in the pocket of the gun industry by way of the NRA - motherfuckers! - and we all know we are hostage to their gutlessness.

One more reason to be glad I have no children or grandchildren.

That are being raised right.

Your collective inability to acknowledge this obvious truth makes you all look like fools.

How does that protect them from being murdered? Doh!

Also there are many mass killers whose parents raised them right, by all accounts. Mental illness and psychopathy does occur quite frequently even in fairly functional families.

Plenty of teaching places, nursing jobs, social and care working, and other vital service employment is available in countries where "getting shot" isn't part of the job requirements. Maybe when civilised Americans realise they are hopelessly outnumbered and start leaving;then the ridiculous clots of the NRA will come to a natural self extinction.

There is at least some objective research into school shootings.

This could provide a starting place for policy change that is rational and data based.

The most thought-provoking part is that there are so many people — TOO GODDAMNED MANY PEOPLE! — waiting there 'wanting to meet him'.

FOR CHRISSAKES, WOULD SOMEBODY — ANYBODY — FUCKING DO SOMETHING TO STOP THIS MADNESS?

Yeah, about that . . . It's actually kinda pretty much exactly YOUR job to do that, not "somebody anybody." Call your legislators, tell them you want real and meaningful gun control, NOW, and if that means repealing the Second Amendment to do it, you're good with that. In fact you'd welcome it. Tell them this is the single most important thing they need to do NOW, and if they don't act, you will personally make sure everyone in their district knows that they find dead children to be the perfectly acceptable price of appeasing the gun lobby by doing nothing.
GAH!
