The largest snake in the world has been found in the wild, in Maine.
Ok, just the skin, but confirmed Anaconda -- the largest snake species in the world -- and illegal in Maine (there are no handling permits for Anaconda in the state, either). The skin was found near the Presumpscot river, in Westbrook, a town just outside of Portland. Giant snake sightings have been reported all summer. It likely will not survive the winter, unless it finds a warm basement or building to curl up in.....
I don't mind a harmless garter snake, or even a mean old black rat, but this one freaks me the heck out.

Very few of them, even in S. America, are large enough to be a threat to humans. But on the other hand, these things can be completely invisible even right under your feet! Amazing how a 150lb snake can disappear.
I worry more about how many Republicans don't understand thermodynamics, personally.
