That's what they all say....

Post by Guinevere »

The largest snake in the world has been found in the wild, in Maine.

Ok, just the skin, but confirmed Anaconda -- the largest snake species in the world -- and illegal in Maine (there are no handling permits for Anaconda in the state, either). The skin was found near the Presumpscot river, in Westbrook, a town just outside of Portland. Giant snake sightings have been reported all summer. It likely will not survive the winter, unless it finds a warm basement or building to curl up in.....

I don't mind a harmless garter snake, or even a mean old black rat, but this one freaks me the heck out.

I told my Swede I wasn't coming back to Maine until the thing was captured or dead. Locking it up in Augusta does not count......

The anaconda or LePage??
a predator native to South America and made infamous by Hollywood thrillers.
To say nothing of Nicki Minaj.

Yes, I suppose I could agree with you ... but then we'd both be wrong, wouldn't we?

Very few of them, even in S. America, are large enough to be a threat to humans. But on the other hand, these things can be completely invisible even right under your feet! Amazing how a 150lb snake can disappear.

I worry more about how many Republicans don't understand thermodynamics, personally.
