Re: Baby, I was born this way!
There is a lot of research in this area. Perhaps you might search for it online?

Compelling indeed, and THAT explains why you did not post the requisite multicolored graph as opposed to the pseudo intellectual cherry picked reference links...rubato wrote:There is a lot of research in this area. Perhaps you might search for it online?

Yes. I agree. Very compelling.
All truth passes through three stages. First, it is ridiculed. Second, it is violently opposed. Third, it is accepted as being self-evident.

Considering that Democrat and/or Republican are "man made" and their platforms are "man scripted" I guess our genes can read and understand those writings before we are born.

Re: Baby, I was born this way!
Which is of course not the topic of this thread....The evidence for a genetic component to personality is quite compelling.
The topic of this thread related to political ideology having a genetically determined component; not "personality"..
I've known many liberals with lovely personalities....
And then there are those who are nasty, vicious little scuts, (as you prove here on nearly a daily basis)
Same thing with conservatives....
Perhaps you'd like to claim that "personality" is "the defining characteristic" of political ideology....

Re: Baby, I was born this way!
It is likely that evidence showing a genetic component to personality might also predict a predisposition to different political ideologies especially where those ideologies differentiate between preferences for compassion for the afflicted vs punishment as means of social improvement.

What? You want an intelligent response to a speculation about a hypothetical connection?

An intelligent response would only be possible for someone willing to read something about the research in the field.Crackpot wrote:What? You want an intelligent response to a speculation about a hypothetical connection?

So you chose the second option.
PS it's up to the person making the claim to provide the research. THen again knowing that requires some scientific knowledge.

Why is it that when Miley Cyrus gets naked and licks a hammer it's 'art' and 'edgy' but when I do it I'm 'drunk' and 'banned from the hardware store'?

Re: Baby, I was born this way!
I know you would deeply like to believe that, because in the simple minded way you look at things on Planet Rube, the liberals are a collection of loving, pastoral, compassionate souls, while the conservatives are all a bunch of hard hearted bastards...especially where those ideologies differentiate between preferences for compassion for the afflicted vs punishment
However, like so much of what you would like to believe, this simply isn't true. In fact a good way to describe it would be pure:
Crap-o-rama
Here on planet earth, we Terrans know that the reality is far more complex than that.
In this case rube, your belief is wrong in two fundamental ways. (That's actually not too bad for you rube; frequently when you state something it's wrong in as many as half a dozen ways.)
First, with the exception of a handful of really hardcore Randians, there is no one who believes that people who are in a bad way should all just be left to hang. For the vast majority of people regardless of their politics, the issue isn't about whether or not to extend compassion, but about what are the most effective approaches for doing so.
Second, this strict dichotomy that you see between this group of Good Guys who want "compassion", versus this other group of Bad Guys who believe in "punishment" simply doesn't exist. It is far more common for most people (again regardless of their politics) to favor some version and mix of a "carrot and stick approach"....
It is quite common for example, for folks to favor polices and programs designed to help alleviate the suffering of the homeless while simultaneously supporting laws that punish public defecation and aggressive panhandling...
So which camp would a person like that fall into rube? The "compassionate" one or the "punishment" one?
(I really don't expect a response to that rube; I realize that these sorts of complexities are of an order of magnitude far too difficult for you to grasp, and that thinking about them just gives you a headache. Anything beyond "Liberals compassionate; liberals gooood, conservatives want punishment; conservatives baaaad..." is simply too much for you.)
Actually the views you've been expressing go a long way towards providing evidence for my theory rube:
If there's a genetic basis for anything it would seem to be the difference between people who think things through and try to grasp complexities, and those who behave in a rote, knee jerk way to any new information, without engaging in a thought process...

I provided links which you can read, it is easy to find others if you have an interest in the subject at hand more than dropping shit-bombs.Crackpot wrote:So you chose the second option.

You are suffering from a very basic misconception. I am not trying to persuade you of anything. I am trying to say that for you to have an opinion anyone should care about you have to read the literature. You, oldr, & others are simply ignorant on the subject and have nothing valuable to say.

I am not 'arguing' with you because I don't argue with total ignoramuses. You have nothing to say of any value.
I am claiming that you are ignorant and you are proving it with every post.
