Sorry to hear the news guys, its always hard and always a huge gap when they go.
If you can keep your head while those around you are losing theirs, you may have misjudged the situation.

It says "this video is private" on my screen Gob. But it's good to have those private memories.

Thanks for the "heads up" Meade, I've changed the video status so Barney can be seen.

Everyone who has commented has been so kind, our late Mutt is blessed to have such good thoughts from strangers.

Thank you all.

Excellent Gob.

Someone coming in! My favourite thing

Someone going out! My favourite thing

Someone taking too long to go off down the street! My favourite thing

Someone follows me to the shops! My favourite thing

Magpies! My favourite thing

If I have to remember
That's a fine memory

You can tell in the video that Barney thinks that you move too slowly. From a dog's POV we must be so clumsy and slow.

I gave my pup an extra big hug this am. She is getting old too, her once black face is now almost white.

OMG!!!!!
Sorry for your loss, Gob, Hen and Hatch. I can't imagine not having my dog Apollo. (even if I know he will go before me if nature plays it's course).

Even now with Apollo "only" 5yo my wife sometimes says she doesn't want to see his end. he does have hind leg problems getting up, but once up, he is off and running

THE RAINBOW BRIDGE POEM

When an animal dies that has been especially close to someone here, that pet goes to Rainbow Bridge. There are meadows and hills for all of our special friends so they can run and play together. There is plenty of food, water and sunshine, and our friends are warm and comfortable.

All the animals who had been ill and old are restored to health and vigor. Those who were hurt or maimed are made whole and strong again, just as we remember them in our dreams of days and times gone by. The animals are happy and content, except for one small thing; they each miss someone very special to them, who had to be left behind.

They all run and play together, but the day comes when one suddenly stops and looks into the distance. His bright eyes are intent. His eager body quivers. Suddenly he begins to run from the group, flying over the green grass, his legs carrying him faster and faster.

You have been spotted, and when you and your special friend finally meet, you cling together in joyous reunion, never to be parted again. The happy kisses rain upon your face; your hands again caress the beloved head, and you look once more into the trusting eyes of your pet, so long gone from your life but never absent from your heart.

Then you cross Rainbow Bridge together....

Author unknown...

BEYOND THE RAINBOW
As much as I loved the life we had and all the times we played,
I was so very tired and knew my time on earth would fade

I saw a wondrous image then of a place that's trouble-free
Where all of us can meet again to spend eternity.

I saw the most beautiful Rainbow, an on the other side
Were meadows rich and beautiful - lush and green and wide

And running through the meadows as far as the eye could see
Were animals of every sort as healthy as could be

My own tired, failing body was fresh and healed and new
And I wanted to go run with them, but I had something left to do

I needed to reach out to you, to tell you I'm alright
That this place is truly wonderful, then a bright glow pierced the night

"Twas the glow of many candles, shining bright and strong and bold
And I knew then that it held your love in it's brilliant shades of gold.

For although we may not be together in the way we used to be
We are still connected by a cord no one can see

So whenever you need to find me, we're never far apart
If you look beyond the Rainbow and listen with your heart

Once again
Sorry for your loss.

Quoting oneself is so passe...
I noticed the sappy "Rainbow Bridge" story on the window-sill, framed with a suitable flowery border. I read it anyway and it's not fair that such maudlin and obvious sentimentality should require another two tissues

What a happy, well-behaved boy. I'm so sorry for your loss -- its heartbreaking, even when we know its their time.

I'm giving my girl extra hugs and kisses today, just for Barney (even though she is a cat).

Thanks again to everyone for your kind words.

It's another day here now, so on with life, but he'll be in our thoughts for years to come.

:( Dammit! That sucks@

I feel your pain TAFF. Really. I have cried twice in the the last twenty years. Once was for something that I am not willing to share.

The other was when I had to put Rosha [Rachel of Rottingdale] down. Her AKC Name. LOOOOng story. Suffice to say that she was the very best damn dog that I ever had.

I am so sorry that you had to make the decision. Like I did. But it was made out of love and I will stand by it.

As I know you did also.

Hugs,

Tim

Misty Goes to the vet today to see if they can diagnose her apparent pain.
