Weep Jarl, weep.....

Post by Gob »

What's an ageing rocker to do years after announcing his retirement and on the back of repeatedly lukewarm performances?

Retire, of course.

In devastating news for AFL fans - and former US presidential candidate Mitt Romney - Meat Loaf has announced final tour dates.

Five years ago, the Bat Out of Hell singer mooted a retirement plan, but continued to perform.

The last tour, Last at Bat and dubbed a "final goodbye" to his fans, will begin in Britain in April and continue for almost three weeks.

The singer has promised to perform hits such as Dead Ringer For Love, and the second act of the show will be comprised of the seven songs from his best-selling 1977 album Bat Out of Hell.

"I know the fans will enjoy the show as much as I enjoyed putting it together," he said.

There's no word if those attending the shows will be entitled to a refund if Meat Loaf turns in a performance similar to that at the 2011 AFL grand final – which drew widespread disdain – or Mitt Romney's endorsement rally.

Meat Loaf cancelled US gigs last month because of the destructive hurricane Sandy and last year he told CNN that "I go out on the stage as if it's the last thing I'll ever do”.

“And that's what I've always said … if I'm going out, I'm going out on stage."

Oh, how the mighty have fallen..

I prefer to remember him this way:

Back when I was in College, I used to a do a Paradise By The Dashboard Light routine with a young lady I was dating, (she had skill and experience in choreography) that was quite well received both at parties and in some clubs in Charlottesville....

Able to get her legs out of the left and right windows?

So now I'm praying for the end of time...
To hurry up and arrive...

'Cause if I gotta spend another minute with you
I don't think that I can really survive...

I'll never break my promise or forget my vow...

But God only knows that I could do it right now!

I'm praying for the end of time,
It's all that I can do...woo, woo WOO!
Praying for the end of time,
So I can end my time with you...

It was long ago and it was far away, and it was so much better than it is today... 8-)
