A man is being rushed to hospital this morning after becoming impaled on a piece of furniture inside his home at Reid.
The ACT Ambulance Service was called to the Allambie Street property just after 9 o’clock.
Intensive care paramedics arrived a short time later to find the 60 year old impaled on an ornamental bed head through his stomach.
The paramedics worked for about half an hour with ACT Fire & Rescue firefighters and ACT Policing officers to get the man free.
He was stablised on scene and is now being transported by the ACT Ambulance Service to The Canberra Hospital in a serious but stable condition.
He did what?
He did what?

Re: He did what?
Did somebody say "mattress"?
For Christianity, by identifying truth with faith, must teach-and, properly understood, does teach-that any interference with the truth is immoral. A Christian with faith has nothing to fear from the facts

"... ornamental bed head ... " Do they mean a headboard? I'm having trouble imagining how that could have happened. He fell on it? It fell on him? Someone threw it at him?

Re: He did what?
I'm thinking it was an old fashioned brass bed with various knobby bits. Perhaps a knob was missing and he was trying to put something on top of a cupboard and slipped and fell onto the missing knob?

Bah!

His knob was missing?
Sad, no wonder he was agitated.

Re: He did what?
I was relieved that he was impaled on his stomach. (Though I'm sure he wasn't.)
When I first heard the story they only reported he was 'impaled on his bed'. I was starting to think this was another 'priestly potato' story. At least there should be less humiliation for him than Mr Curtain Changing Naked Priest.
