Ah now Joe - crackers! Not crackers, please not crackers? Soft white crusty bread with butter laid on with a trowel and then Marmite plastered thickly. Perhaps you should start with thinly spread. . .

I've been putting Vegemite mostly on plain low sodium Triscuits. But I've also had it on warm sourdough bread & toasted english muffins. I even put some on a chicken crepe the other day... :D

Vegemite is like having training wheels on a tricycle. Move to the dark side, Joe! Soon you'll be singing with the choir "Yeast, Jesus Loves You" !

Joe, I have two small catering packs of marmite from the cruise, probably enough for a couple of slices of toast each, do you want them?

Hi Daisy,

Thank you for the very nice offer but I think the shipping cost for such a small amount would be too much. I was able to buy a 125 gram jar of Marmite for $5.47 from Amazondotcom and it will be delivered to me this Thursday.

If Joe Guy doesn't respond within a week, we'll assume that he succumbed. 8-)

Your collective inability to acknowledge this obvious truth makes you all look like fools.

I checked with UPS tracking and my Marmite will be delivered today (Friday). On Monday I was able to get 2 day shipping for free but didn't consider that it wouldn't be shipped until Wednesday because of the New Years Holiday.

Anyway, I'll be tasting it probably this early evening and a review will soon follow.

Jim you could try it agin now you're somewhat more "mature", sometimes an "experienced" palate can enjoy what a younger less "distinguished" palate cannot.

Jim has based his opinion of Marmite on his experience in which someone gave it to him when it was added to a Melba oval with horseradish cheddar cheese without his knowledge.

That's similar to basing one's opinion of the flavor of a fine wine that was served to you in a glass in which it had been poured over a garlic stuffed green olive and chopped jalapeno peppers.

But that's my favourite way to drink wine?

Wine, chopped jalapenos & garlic olives but no Marmite included?

How are you be able to truly appreciate the true texture, bouquet & complexity of a fine wine?

I tasted the Marmite this morning.

When I opened the jar the first thing I noticed was that Marmite looks just like Vegemite. But then when I put a butter knife into it I realized that it's much thicker. It has the consistency of peanut butter, where the Vegemite seems to be thinner, but that might be because I was squeezing the Vegemite out of a tube.

My first bite of it was after spreading some over a small portion of a toasted & buttered English muffin. It was a little overwhelming and I thought I might not like it.

Then I remembered the advice I was given to scrape it on lightly. A little bit certainly goes a long way. By the time I got into the 2nd half of the muffin I had figured out how to use just the right amount to appreciate the flavor.

Marmite tastes richer and even saltier than Vegemite. I think it will take some time to figure out which I will like most. I was liking the Vegemite more and more when I ran out of it.

So, I'll be having a taste of Marmite a couple more times today and then I'll probably have a better idea as to whether I'll be getting hooked on it.

I feel like I'm turning into a British Australian. I first noticed it yesterday when I got in my car and started driving on the wrong side of the street. Later I got an urge for tea & crumpets in mid afternoon but settled for Vegemite on toast.

I just have one favor to ask of the people of Plan B. If I start writing about cricket matches, somebody please take me outside and shoot me...

Oh man, the need for a tea and crumpets fix can be really heavy to deal with.

Just in case anyone gets the wrong idea, this is how Joe would like to be shot;
