Am I the only one who sees Humor in this...?

Post by Joe Guy »

I'm not laughing at the injuries, but there is a certain irony to this story -

5 hurt in shootings at gun shows in Ohio, Ind., NC
Updated 7:45 pm, Saturday, January 19, 2013

MEDINA, Ohio (AP) — Accidental shootings at gun shows in North Carolina, Indiana and Ohio left five people injured Saturday, the same day that thousands of gun advocates gathered peacefully at state capitals around the U.S. to rally against stricter firearm limits.

At the Dixie Gun and Knife Show in Raleigh, a 12-gauge shotgun discharged as its owner unzipped its case for a law enforcement officer to check at a security entrance, injuring three people, state Agriculture Department spokesman Brian Long said.

Two bystanders were hit by shotgun pellets and taken to a hospital. A retired deputy sheriff suffered a slight hand injury.

The shotgun's owner, 36-year-old Gary Lynn Wilson, brought the weapon to the show to find a private buyer, Long said. Sheriff Donnie Harrison said that it was too early to know whether Wilson might be charged but that it appeared to be an accident.

The North Carolina show, which is held at the state fairgrounds, is a quarterly event that usually draws thousands of people. The two-day show shut down early Saturday but will reopen Sunday.

In Indianapolis, police said a 54-year-old man was injured when he inadvertently shot himself while leaving a gun show.

Emory L. Cozee was loading his .45-caliber semi-automatic when he shot himself in the hand as he was leaving the Indy 1500 Gun and Knife show at the state fairgrounds, state police said. Loaded personal weapons aren't allowed inside the show.

Cozee, of Indianapolis, was hospitalized for treatment. Police say the shooting was accidental and no charges will be filed.

And in Ohio, a gun dealer in Medina was checking out a semi-automatic handgun he had bought Saturday when he accidentally pulled the trigger, injuring his friend, police said. The gun's magazine had been removed from the firearm, but one round remained in the chamber, police said.

Police Chief Pat Berarducci said it appears the bullet ricocheted off the floor and struck the friend in the arm and leg. The man was taken by helicopter to a hospital 30 miles north in Cleveland, Berarducci said. His condition wasn't immediately known.

The gun rallies held Saturday coincide with President Barack Obama's unveiling of a sweeping package of federal gun-control proposals in the wake of a Connecticut elementary school shooting that killed 20 first-graders and six educators last month.

These people are too d@mned stupid to own ANY firearm.

Rule 1

Always assume any firearm is loaded even if you "know" it is not.

Rule 2

See Rule 1

Your collective inability to acknowledge this obvious truth makes you all look like fools.

Even if you've just taken it apart, cleaned it, and put it back together, still treat it like a loaded weapon. People get complacent and accidents happen. I'd say charge them all with negligence at the very least.

Although the guy who shot himself while loading his weapon shouldn't be allowed near another one ever again.

Trinidad & Tobago security guard shoots his penis off

A security guard in Trinidad and Tobago has been hospitalized after accidentally shooting his own penis off with a .38 caliber handgun.

The Trinidad and Tobago Guardian reports that the unidentified 33-year-old Lopinot resident was rushed to the San Fernando General Hospital on Sunday suffering from a gunshot wound that obliterated his manhood.

According to the Guardian, a Rio Claro resident called police around 8 a.m. after to report hearing a gunshot coming from a parked car. Officers responding to the call found the man slumped over behind the steering wheel. He was bleeding from a wound in his groin and a .38 pistol was found in his pocket.

It was later determined that the man did not have a permit for the handgun. Authorities say he will likely be charged with illegal possession of a firearm and ammunition when he recovers.

As bizarre as this story may seem, this sort of thing is not uncommon. Last September, 18-year-old Michael Smeriglio of Port St. Lucie, Florida shot off his penis and one of his testicles with a gun he had just purchased.

A year earlier, an Arizona man blew his penis off after tucking his girlfriend's pink pistol into the waistband of his pants.

And in 2010, a Washington man lost his testicles after a gun tucked into his waistband accidentally discharged.

That article demonstrates that a handgun can not only be an extension of one's penis, it can also be a replacement.

Some people should not have guns. Responsible gun owners do not tuck their gun in their belt/pants. That is a hollywood move. Stupid, just plain stupid.
