A couple of days ago, we had occasion to re-watch one of my favorites of the high production quality, hour long version Dr. Who episodes:
"Victory of the Daleks"
The TARDIS takes The Doctor and Amy to war-torn Britain in the middle of World War Two. Not only do they meet Winston Churchill himself, but the Doctor comes face to face once again with his greatest enemy of all.
In this episode the code names "Broad Sword" and "Danny Boy" are used....
For $10,000 dollars and the car...
From which late 60s era WW II movie were those two code names lifted?
One of my all time favorite WW II flicks...one plot twist after another...and of course, the essential element for any good WW II film... lots of machine-gunned Nazis...(Richard Burton and Clint Eastwood...who would have thought they would make a great team?)
As Clint once wryly observed about the flick:
“Richard Burton and I killed so many Nazis in two hours, it made me wonder why the war took so long.”
- Clint Eastwood
unfortunately, I was fibbing about the 10K and the car....
Daisy wrote:I love that episode... boy am I missing The Ponds already!

I'm definitely an Amy fan,(I'm sorry Karen Gillian decided to leave the show; I thought that she and Smith had great chemistry) but as far as Rory is concerned, he always just seemed like a third wheel to me...
I don't think the show would have lost much if they had killed him off, or dropped him in a parallel universe....
