This is anothe rexample of "mostly bad". The government of Ireland has admitted guilt and offered an apology but the RC church stonewalls still.

Ireland's Magdalene Laundries: I hope my birth mother can now rest in peace
Today the Irish prime Minister, Enda Kenny, is expected to offer a full apology for the suffering endured by thousands of women locked up in the Magdalene Laundries. Here, Samantha Long, the daughter of Margaret Bullen, who died in one of the laundries, shares her birth mother’s tragic story.

The catholic church is not entirely bad just mostly so. More so than a random aggregation of people.
But a random aggregate of people is not a valid comparison to an organization. And of course one can selectively pick the crop from an aggregate of people to compare against the organization.

Why not oldr? If, as some keep telling us, there is the same amount of good and bad in the RC are there is in all walks of life then it would make a good comparison... and if one selectively picks then it's not random. ;)

Bacause the Catholic group have a "common bond" (for lack of a better phrase), their faith. A random agregate has no "comon bond".

(Emphases altered.)

Why should the comparison be limited to "private" organizations? Or to "private" orphanages and (other) charities?

Secular governments support more orphans, help more poor people, provide more free education, etc., than the Roman Catholic Church. Shouldn't those secular governments get (at least) as much credit for their charitable endeavors as the RCC should get for its charitable endeavors? And shouldn't the people who support those secular governments' charitable endeavors get as much credit as the people who support the RCC's charitable endeavors?
Reason is valuable only when it performs against the wordless physical background of the universe.

Credit all round then - Andrew's paying. Also secular governments have killed, raped, burned, stolen, brutalized and (add your own et ceteras). So there we are then - credit and blame all round. The common denominator seems to be 'people' which is no surprise to any true Christian

For Christianity, by identifying truth with faith, must teach-and, properly understood, does teach-that any interference with the truth is immoral. A Christian with faith has nothing to fear from the facts
