Odds on the next pope?

Love these;

Bono also 1000/1

I'm curia to see if they pick someone of whom they are 100% sure there's no cassock-lifting in the background.
For Christianity, by identifying truth with faith, must teach-and, properly understood, does teach-that any interference with the truth is immoral. A Christian with faith has nothing to fear from the facts

IT DOESN'T HAVE TO BE A CARDINAL

Post by RayThom »

A holy, christ-like, layman could just as easily be elected to this most high calling. Of course, odds are slim to none that this will happen. Once you eliminate homosexuals, and paedophile enabling Cardinals the field is winnowed down considerably.

One thing for sure, and absolute, is that Turkson, or other non-white guys, don't stand a chance. In Turkson's case his odds appear to be great but this is just to tickle minority catholic asses with a feather. It makes the big boys look all inclusive but we all know they are exclusive. I'm pretty sure Karl Rove is doing the number crunching here. He's great at polishing the turds.

And in the end. Meet the new boss, same as the old boss. And we will be fooled again. God help us all.

I doubt it Meade, I'm sure it's in the rules somewhere that he has to be a Catholic.
Why is it that when Miley Cyrus gets naked and licks a hammer it's 'art' and 'edgy' but when I do it I'm 'drunk' and 'banned from the hardware store'?

I'm backing Bishop Brennan, with Father Dougall McGuire as a sentimental favourite.

My hats in the ring. Don't know if I have a chance, but I have a good war chest for the fight.

There is indeed, an app for that -- called "Conclave" its free and available for iPhone and Android phone.

"Conclave" also ranks the potential candidates -- and it agrees with the bookies as to the top candidate, but its a bit of a mix afterwards.

Now if I only had an iPhone, or Android phone (or any cell phone for that matter).

my Oboma phone expired and I am too cheap to get another cell phone. I once designed them, I have no need to buy them.

Tweetie birds

Post by MajGenl.Meade »

I hear the Cardinals sent out their last tweets before being sequestered. They were threatened with dire consequences (even excommunication?) should they tweet or otherwise communicate with the outside world.

Meanwhile in Rome the other cardinals were also doing something or other

I had to look twice to make sure that post didn't come from rubato.

Now we know how the cardinals will be entertaining themselves between votes:
A day ahead of the papal conclave, faces at the scandal-struck Vatican were even redder than usual after it emerged that the Holy See had purchased a €23 million (£21 million) share of a Rome apartment block that houses Europe’s biggest gay sauna.

The senior Vatican figure sweating the most due to the unlikely proximity of the gay Europa Multiclub is probably Cardinal Ivan Dias, the head of the Congregation for Evangelisation of Peoples, who is due to participate in tomorrow’s election at the Sistine Chapel.

This 76-year-old “prince of the church” enjoys a 12-room apartment on the first-floor of the imposing palazzo, at 2 Via Carducci, just yards from the ground floor entrance to the steamy flesh pot. There are 18 other Vatican apartments in the block, many of which house priests.
