A conservative Christian group wants a Geico commercial pulled off the air for displaying "bestiality" in a way that will supposedly corrupt America's children.

The group, One Million Moms, called the commercial "repulsive and unnecessary" and has a petition on its website for people to ask Geico to remove the ad from TV.

One Million Moms, which is owned by the anti-gay rights, anti-abortion fundamentalist group American Family Association, had this to say on its website about the ad:

One Million Moms has received numerous complaints because Geico's new commercial plays with the idea of bestiality. Parents find this type of advertising repulsive and unnecessary. Airing a commercial with an animal in it will surely grab children's attention, but this is a horrible commercial for families to see.

The Geico commercial, which you can watch by clicking the video above, shows a woman on a date with a talking pig. When their car breaks down, the pig uses a Geico app to call a tow truck. The woman is then disappointed that she won't be "stuck ... for hours with nothing to do."

The American Family Association has a long history of attacking companies and businesses for even the most half-hearted acknowledgments of gay rights. In the past it has condemned or attempted to boycott Google, Oreo, Urban Outfitters, JCPenney (on more than one occasion), McDonald's Pepsi, and Home Depot, among others.

Geico hasn't yet responded to the religious group's statement, but it's doubtful the insurance company will cave to its demands.

A Geico rep wasn't immediately available for comment.

The AFA wants to be seen as a credible player in setting the direction of social policy, and it comes up with stuff like this? This ranks right up there, in the making fools of themselves category, with Jerry Fallwell's comments about Tinky Winky, or whoever it was that saw gay subtext in Sponge Bob Square Pants.

Seriously folks, get a life, because seeing promotion of bestiality in this ad says a whole hell of a lot more about you than it does about the ad.

There can be no doubt about the sexual overtones of this commercial. It is neither funny nor clever, nor effective as advertising.

If I were in the market for insurance, this would make me less likely to purchase it from the Government Employees Insurance Company, aka "GEICO."

I enjoy most of the Geico commercials. Whoever their marketing/advertising team is they are far ahead as far as entertaining commercials go. From the cavemen to the gecko (my only problem is that "real" geckos do not have eyelids, thus do not blink, they actually lick their eyes to keep them moist) to the pig (weee weee weeeeeeeeeee) to the gazelles with the night vision goggles (common Carl, you're better than that) many are entertaining. (no, I do not have Geico insurance)

Anyone who has seen the "pig series" of the Geico commercial surely must realize that part of the running gag in them is that nobody in the commercials notices that he's a pig....

I agree with oldr; Geico has consistently put out the funniest and cleverest ad campaigns of any company over the past decade.

Come to think of it, there's another Geico ad running currently where The Gecko is the best man at a wedding and in the last shot the Maid Of Honor sends him a very flirtatious look....

I guess that's implied bestiality too; I wonder how these rocket surgeons missed that one....

I think many of the Geico ads are clever, but for some reason I can't stand the cavemen. I enjoy Maxwell the pig ads, however. Same with the gecko, even the "under a rock" ones. Sadly, some people lack a sense of humor, otherwise they wouldn't make such idiotic comments about the ads.

If your conservative advocacy group is demanding that Geico pull this ad because the depiction (as a joke, of course) of a woman on a date with a cartoon pig might encourage bestiality, while you're also demanding that Skittles remove this ad where a woman kisses a walrus because it may, yes, you guessed it, encourage bestiality, you have to ask yourself this - aren't you thinking a little too much about bestiality? I mean, seriously, if I'm the depraved Hollywood liberal, how come when I see these ads I don't think, "oh, bestiality, you forbidden fruit, how you tempt me," not even a little, but you, wholesome Christian do-gooder, see this and think, "please Jesus, give me the strength to not fuck my cat."
