All depends on how far away the bear/moose is when they break cover. I agree, 10 rounds is a good compromise around where I hunt. As I said, I only put three in a 6 shot chamber and hold another 3 in my pack. The pistol holds 10 rounds. I don't see a need for 30, but I have gone to the range and shot an AR15 with a 30 round clip and it is advantagious when you are siteing in a rifle not having to reload so you can stay on target and get the "Kentucky windage" down pat.
Only legal gun owners are affected by these laws.

ETA
Plus it is really cool and an adrenalin rush to fire off 30 rounds at the target as fast as you can and see how many time you hit it.
Can't deny the COOL factor

They aren't the only ones affected if manufacturers are prohibited from making them. Every illegal gun/ciip/whatever began as legal.

there is a small problem that they won't be prevented from making them but only limited where they could sell them thus creating a black market demand. The success of supplying that demand remains to be seen.

One only needs to look at drugs.

Not so much drugs start off illegal therefore they aren't as easy to trace. In theory you ahold be able to track any large scale trafficking

I would guess the market for 30 round clips is smaller than the market for drugs. Of course I could be wrong.

You'd be surprised gang bangers don't take time to aim so they go for volume

I'm sorry oldr...

But in considering this, if one compares the number of lives lost because someone needs more than 10 shots to bring down a charging bear, versus number of lives lost due to gang bangers having clips larger that 10 shots for drive bys...

I doubt it's anywhere near close....

Don't be sorry. Most gang bangers I have read about use pistols which most have 10 shot clips. Have not read about many gang bangers breaking out the assault rifles. Too hard to conceal.

Assualt rifle killings seems to be the domain of the mentally unstable.

30's are in demand. Many pistols have expanded clips as well

Not in a drive by...

Also these over-sized ammo clips aren't just used with assault rifles, they can be used with a variety of pistols (like Glocks) as well. High capacity magazines are favored by both psychos and gang bangers.

It looks like he's shooting targets that are three or four feet away. If that's the kind of shooting he practices he would have to get real close to a moose to shoot it.

Not that I'd expect him to go moose hunting with a glock...

Drugs are different because they can be made in clandestine labs anywhere. Rather difficult to have a clandestine gun factory. If you told gun manufacturers, "you can produce this and this, but not this, or we'll confiscate your operation and throw your asses in prison," then most of the problem would disappear. There's not a lot of ways for large numbers of illegal weapons to enter the country undetected.

And the Constitution says there is a right to bear arms, not manufacture them, so the Second Amendment problem is solved.

My choice for a drive-by would be a .30 Cal carbine with a pistol grip.

Hardly. I could crank out magazines (which are extremely simple to make) from any decent high school metal shop...with a trip to Harbor Freight, I could crank them out in my garage. I could make guns at a good fab shop (there are at least two in this area). With modern CAD-CAM technology, you can literally scan the parts into a computer & the machines do the rest! That's not even mentioning 3D printing technology.

Mine would be a pump-action 10-gauge shotgun loaded with alternating slugs and 00 buckshot.

I don't suspect if someone were making magazines at a high school metal shop that it would remain a secret for long.
I could make guns at a good fab shop

The thing about 3-D printing is you'd still need the springs which I'm sure could also be tracked
