I believe that a very legitimate case can be made that the term "phobia" is over extended, and is used frequently as a rhetorical device to de-legitimize an opposing argument; to essentially say that those who take the opposing position must have a mental problem; and therefore shouldn't be taken seriously, and can be dismissed out of hand...(which is kind of ironic in this case when you think about it, since there was a time not too long ago when homosexuality was categorized as a mental disorder...)

I also believe the word "hate" is frequently misused in the same way...

That having been said...

I must concede that a person saying things like "I have no objection whatsoever to consenting-adult perverts of every stripe conducting their disgusting private lives"....

And that their views " have nothing to do with "hate" for "sexual perverts"...

does not contribute constructively to the arguments I could make on this point...

Phrases like "sexual perverts" and "disgusting private lives" and ""married" bastards" would seem indicate a certain level of hostility that doesn't contribute helpfully to the debate...

Dave, if you don't "hate" gay people, given the animosity and contempt expressed in your rhetoric, I'm not sure what the distinction between your feeling towards them and and a meaningful definition of "hate" would be....
