Politics is a croc!

Post by Gob »

A saltwater crocodile called Harry is to use his alleged psychic powers to pick the winner of this weekend's general election in Australia.

His keepers in Darwin say the huge reptile has a good track record.

Harry predicted that Spain would win the World Cup - as did the now world-famous and allegedly psychic octopus, Paul, in Germany.

Harry apparently has a solid record when it comes to predicting the outcome of major events.

He will put his powers to the test when two chickens of equal weight that bear photographs of the main party leaders are dangled over his enclosure.

Whichever the 5m (16ft) croc chooses will, according to his handlers, win this weekend's election.

Another crocodile at the wildlife park in Darwin called Bert also has a similar talent.

He correctly chose the recent winner of the city's biggest horse race a few weeks ago.

From what I've read, if the Australian election follows the same pattern as close elections here, Gillard should pull it out...

The pattern in this country in close elections, is that the candidate with the momentum in the polls in the last 48 hours before the vote almost always winds up winning.

If that holds true in this race, the polls over this period have shown Labor pulling even from slightly behind...

By the time the vote is cast, they should be sightly ahead....

Of course I would be very happy to be proven wrong...

Where's the octopus? I trust octopi more than crocodiles for my political punditry.
