Actually, it's a pretty neat idea...and if I'm reading it correctly it doesn't hurt the bees at all, since they're much to light to set off the mines but can locate them without endangering any people.

Researchers in the US have used bees to track environmental pollutants since they gather pollen from such a large area.

But nobody should hurt bees! Bees are nice.
