A momentary lapse

Post by Gob »

That’s the trouble with time lapses. You need time.

This is 8 months of my spare time gone. But it was a worthwhile experience.

What began as a request from science program ‘Catalyst’ morphed into a series of experiments with techniques, software and cameras in an effort to bring Canberra’s sky to life.

Approximately 30000 Raw photos, several cameras, 2 hard drives, 900GB of data and a little old Macbook that punched way above its processing weight and rendered it’s heart out, albeit frustratingly slowly. This is the result.

5050 still frames processed and combined.

Many time lapse lessons learnt but many more to go. Lots of room to improve, refine and enhance but, above all, a reminder that Canberra is a vibrant space and beautiful city.

I hope you enjoy it.
Not mine I hasten to add, but I will be doing more timelapses, and hoping to get a bit better at them.

Funnily enough I had a stab at the "Wide Brown Land" sculpture, which is done there as a sunrise, as a sunset timelapse, but total buggered it.
“If you trust in yourself, and believe in your dreams, and follow your star. . . you'll still get beaten by people who spent their time working hard and learning things and weren't so lazy.”

Well now I understand why the Australian economy is doing well...

Look at how fast those people move...

They don't fanny about in Canberra.... 8-)

Amazing with all the paid holidays, too.

Your collective inability to acknowledge this obvious truth makes you all look like fools.
