Yesterday, Torontonians woke to the news that the vicious storm that ravaged the city the night before had felled the maple tree believed to have inspired Alexander Muir to compose The Maple Leaf Forever, for decades one of Canada's putative national anthems. A piece of our history was seen to have been lost. But then it was discovered that a sapling grown from that tree survives and had been planted several years ago near the original.
God save our Queen, and Heaven bless the Maple Leaf forever!

Very English, indeed.
Your collective inability to acknowledge this obvious truth makes you all look like fools.

Muir was an Orangeman, and it shows.
There have been recent rewrites that largely do away with some of the Britannic fervor, but this is the version I learned in school so it sticks with me.

Re: The Maple Leaf Forever!
I know I'm going to be sorry I re-posted this...
(The last time I posted it for Scoot's birthday, it took me nearly two days to get the tune out of my head...The little blondie reminds me of a girl I dated back in College...)
This version comes with sub-titles (completely understandable, since they're speaking in Canadianese:)

Re: The Maple Leaf Forever!
I confess to having missed that the first time you posted it, but thank you belatedly
