Seems like much ado about a minor disagreement.
The Y offered the showers after 10pm, the group should have accepted the "rescheduling", let the kids shower and go to where they were sleep.

Why are people so unwilling to compromise lately? Seems everyone and eveythign takes on a life of it's own and battle lines are drawn and the rhetoric flies to and fro on both sides. I am afraid of this countries future. And before anyone says "you should be as the republicans are screwing you" the dems are doing the same. If you don't think they are playing the same game (actually better then and the reps right now) you have your head in the sand.

For better or for worse, I read through this whole thread before watching Santorum's clip.

There is nothing "homophobic" or in any way discriminatory in what he said. There is no misrepresentation of what occurred in Austin, although he apparently presumes that most of the audience was familiar with the incident.

He points out that certain people at the 'Y' - presumably Liberal, pro-choice types - made an issue of the pro-life T-shirts, which resulted in the staff at the 'Y' withdrawing their permission (initially) for the group to shower there, i.e., creating an uncomfortable situation for the pro-life students. Conversely (Santorum implies), had the situation been reversed - and a group came in wearing "pro-choice" T-shirts, those who disagreed with them probably would have just let it go.

Which was Santorum's point. Social conservatives need to be more assertive of their beliefs.

Would someone please quote the "homophobic" language in Santorum's remarks. I seem to have missed it. Unless one presumes that any randomly-chosen YMCA men's shower facility is certain to be a queer hangout.

As to how Santorum's remarks constituted a homophobic slur, both you and he have in common the need to cover up your own unresolved homoerotic feelings by engaging in verbal gay bashing, so I'm sure you can figure it out if you try hard enough.

The hard on you get whenever you come to Santorum's defense should give you a clue about what you really are.

Even if Mr. Santorum came out and said directly that he hates gays, you would still have difficulty finding the homophobic language.

In other words, you're only missing it because you're deliberately ignoring it.
