Finally getting away for a couple of days....

Post by Lord Jim »

Kelly, Tati, Jimmy, and Little Sister, Roman Craig and their two little ones have been over at The Atlantis in Reno since Wednesday for a little vacation before before Tati starts classes next Friday.

I've been swamped with work (which is actually a good thing) so I haven't been able to join them; I've been
here alone by myself...(If one can properly call being with three chihuahuas, two cats, and a parrot "alone" :?)

But I've finally got everything wrapped up, so I've got a flight to Reno in a few hours (ordinarily I would drive, but Kelly's already got her much nicer car there, so I really don't feel any need to spend five hours on the road) and have a luxurious three day vacation before we drive back on Thursday. (Ahh, the joys of parenthood...)

So you folks will somehow have to soldier on without me for a few days....

(Unless of course I win a muti-million dollar jackpot on the slots....In which case I may never come back.... 8-))

Don;t you know the first one of us that wins the lottery/hits a multi million jackpot/etc. first has to host an all expenses paid Plan B get together at the venue of the winners choice?
Okay... There's all kinds of things wrong with what you just said.

I'll try to remember that...

I'm planning to spend most of my time lying out at the pool swilling Mai Tais, and some time in the casino...

And I've already got tomorrow's dinner planned for the all-you-can eat Maine lobster at Boomtown... (I never go to Reno or Tahoe without making a stop there...my personal best is six...hoping to better that...)

And I'll probably spend some time taking the kids over to the Midway at Circus Circus...

Though Jimmy has proudly informed me that he's already won a lot of stuffed animals at the games there...

(I was very happy to hear this; if there's one thing we really have a shortage of around here it's stuffed animals.... 8-) )

Hen's just booked her holidays for our forthcoming UK trip, 13 days annual leave and 20 days flex leave.

You need to get out more...

(Hen's leave does not include weekends, so in total she's taking 49 days, as am I :D )

Have a good time, Jim.

I'll try to keep this motley crew from attempting a mutiny and one of them try to take your place as top CONservative political spokesperson, Political & Psycho-Analyst and occasional voice of reason.

I appreciate that Joe... 8-)

I'm flying out of San Jose at 11...(The Queen Mum's giving me a lift down there; it was the best Bay Area airport for a short notice one way ticket; about half the price of SFO or Oakland )

Maybe we should leave a little early and stop by and say hello to LoCa...

I always seem to have it...

I know the slots are considered a "suckers game" but I always seem to do well with them...

Whenever I go to Vegas or Reno, I play the dollar slots, and I give myself a $100 a day loss limit...

I only play machines that have all three of these aspects; a return your bet, (like a single cherry) a multiplier, and a wild...(a lot of the machines have two of those, but only a relatively small percentage have all three)

I've never come home from a three or four day stay more than a couple of hundred dollars down and usually I come home up at least three or four hundred...(on a couple of occasions I've done considerably better than that...Once I did so well I covered my entire vacation expense and came home with an extra 2 grand)

I'm a craps guy myself. I'm still in the win column and will probably stay there. Don't think I'll be at the casinos anymore as there is too much free booze.
Have a great time Jim.

My daughter and I took a "father-daughter" motorcycle ride yesterday out to eastern long island, the north fork. Ended up in Riverhead for the Polish festival, then went a little further east to Greenport. Nice little town although it's trying too hard to be the East Hampton of the north fork. But it does have a 100 year old carousell which was a gift from the Grumman corp. why Grumman had a carousel I don't know :shrug

Better plan a hike up Verdi Mountain if you're going to do that. I remember those awful commercials: BOOMTOWN! BOOMTOWN! BOOMTOWN! For the time of your life! Glad they've gained lobster and lost the goofy kitsch.
