I'd lay good odds they don't even make it to the bar before the clothes start coming off.

It's ok. I know Gob is projecting, dreaming of Joe and a Bi-get together. It's more than odds he wants to lay.

I thought it was Steve who was keen to do re-enact the Ned Beatty Deliverance love scene with Joe... :D

I too have a problem with a cut-n-paste posts from another forum. A link would be better so that if people have the couriosity they can look themselves. But who am I to judge. :shrug

Carry on.

Just asking.... what's the problem with quoting from another forum? How does it differ from lifting chunks from some arse's blog or the Daily Fail? PMs might be "private" as the name suggests but are not forums/forae/geeses public things - one must register (usually) only to post in them or is that not so?

it's more of a they are not here to defend it as well as out of context nature of it.

As a Christian I'm sure you can appreciate both context as well as be wary of those who strip context from what has been said.
Okay... There's all kinds of things wrong with what you just said.

When someone posts something on the internet in an open forum that anyone with internet access in the entire world can read at any time - and then someone quotes that person in a different forum - I have a hard time figuring out what harm has been done.

It certainly isn’t a breach of privacy. And the quoted person is free to come here and express her own opinion on the subject. It is in no way comparable to breaching copyright or any other offense. What I’ve done is common practice and acceptable, and has been legal ab initio.

If someone is sensitive about being quoted on the internet, then that someone shouldn’t express opinions on the internet.

This is representative of the detriment that is the internet.

It's entirely preventable.

Don't post things on the internet that you don't want anybody to read.

CP I see your point but am sure we both think that non-Christians can do the same with equal and perhaps better facility at times.

Are bloggers "here to defend" whatever may be quoted here from their blogs? Is the Daily Fail? Is it suggested that we here should not quote anyone from anywhere - just in case they "are not here to defend" and we may have taken it "out of context"?

I don't see the difference myself - we should decide either to quote from anywhere or to quote from nowhere at all, if self-defense and context is an issue. I respect that some folks do not appreciate quotes from other forums and understand that others don't have a problem with it. It seems rather odd to bother seeking out what others may say elsewhere but Joe doesn't seem to have done that in this case.

Why can't we all just get a long?

While I know (and I would hope every knows) that whatever I post here (or anywhere on the internet) is open season to be used and abused, I don't think lifting a post from somewhere else and posting here is "proper".

I would add that it would be more appropriate (and a common courtesy IMHO) to alert the author of the post that you are going to copy it to another forum (or use elsewhere). This way the author has knowledge of where their post is being copied to and they can chose to defend or explain what they wrote (or not).
But that's just me.
