Winning hearts and minds all over the world

Re: Winning hearts and minds all over the world
He got his just deserts
An American employee of the U.S. Embassy in Malta has been sent home after getting into a nasty dispute with a Maltese driver that was videotaped and posted on YouTube.
On Wednesday, the Embassy identified the man as a former employee. They did not name the employee but said that he 'did not comport with the standards of behavior that we expect from all embassy personnel.'
It didn’t say if he had been fired, just that he had 'departed.'

Who was at fault in the accident; you guys are as bad as the news?
I expected to be placed in an air force combat position such as security police, forward air control, pararescue or E.O.D. I would have liked dog handler. I had heard about the dog Nemo and was highly impressed. “SFB” is sad I didn’t end up in E.O.D.
Re: Winning hearts and minds all over the world
There was no accident. Did you watch the video?
Re: Winning hearts and minds all over the world
I can’t, I don’t have the capability.

Re: Winning hearts and minds all over the world
In summary there was an American embassy staffer who was a bit of a bellend in a narrow Maltese street.
Re: Winning hearts and minds all over the world
(Gee whiz, for a diplomat he didn't seem very diplomatic...)An American employee of the U.S. Embassy in Malta
It's pretty much impossible to tell from that video who was in the right or the wrong on that narrow street, in terms of who should have done what with their car...
I have absolutely no idea what the requirements of Maltese law or driving etiquette are in that situation...
Maybe the Maltese guy should have backed up...
But one thing is pretty clear...
No matter who was in the right or the wrong, the American behaved like a right asshole...

Re: Winning hearts and minds all over the world
It looked to me like the loud potty mouth diplomat was wrong. Did you notice how once the asshole backed up and the fat motherfucker drove forward how many cars were following behind him?
That makes it appear that the diplomat was driving in the wrong direction in that alley - or if it is a two way street the asshole should have yielded to traffic coming toward him and pulled over and out of the way of the oncoming traffic.

Re: Winning hearts and minds all over the world
I had an experience like this once, years ago...
I was driving out of the back of a shopping center at night, (there was a bar in the shopping center, which is why I was there...) there was only room for one car to go by , and there were no rules about who was to go first...
I had driven about 300 feet and was just about to turn into the shopping center, when a guy pulls in to the alley with about 40 feet behind him...
He comes to a stop, and turns on his high beams...
So this guy apparently thinks that I should back up 300 feet rather than he should back up 40 feet....
I sat there for a moment, flashed my high beams, tooted my horn...
Then I turned on my interior light, grabbed a part of the newspaper that was lying on the seat, and started reading it in the light...
So he could see me just sitting there, casually reading the newspaper...
And conveying the message that I was prepared to sit there as long as it took for him to back up...
(Which he finally did)

Re: Winning hearts and minds all over the world
The diplomat was able to back up, the Malteeze falconer was followed by a line of cars as he pulled forward.
Maybe it was understood by locals to be a one way street, even if it wasn't dudes reaction was over the top.
He'd prolly still be laying there if he tried that same carp back here...

He was just being a Malteser
For Christianity, by identifying truth with faith, must teach-and, properly understood, does teach-that any interference with the truth is immoral. A Christian with faith has nothing to fear from the facts
