Re: Detroit Tigers
Tottenham Hotspur?
For Christianity, by identifying truth with faith, must teach-and, properly understood, does teach-that any interference with the truth is immoral. A Christian with faith has nothing to fear from the facts
Re: Detroit Tigers
At least you didn't try to compare it to Cricket

Re: Detroit Tigers
That sounds like some sort of fancy cocktail....Tottenham Hotspur
But I looked it up; it's a footsies ball team....
That comparison would be similar to this one:At least you didn't try to compare it to Cricket

Re: Detroit Tigers
That was pretty amazing. I am always glad to see a team's relievers blow the save when the manager follows modern orthodoxy by pulling a pitcher that has good stuff going.

Leyland takes the blame for not reminding the pitcher that he doesn't want to get beat by Mr. Ortiz.
Jesus Fucking Christ.
Still, the Tigers will prevail in 7.
Bet the house.

Re: Detroit Tigers
I wouldn't bet the house. The Sox have a way of making things happen, even against stellar pitching shown by the Detroit staff. But is it a gimme they will win, definitely not -- this is the series I was most worried about. But whoever comes out of the AL will cream the NL representative, that I might bet the house on.

Re: Detroit Tigers
Dave is still feeling the sadness and regret resulting from the home town team, which made the playoffs for the first time in forever (well if you aren't over 21), being sent home early. That and 'burghers still have a soft spot for Leyland who did a good job for them back in the day.
Re: Detroit Tigers
I well remember (but them I'm over 21).
Those damned Pirates were the cause of one of my first and greatest baseball heartbreaks -- when they beat my beloved hometown Os and my adored Scotty Mac, in game 7 of the 1979 World Series.

Re: Detroit Tigers
Another classic October baseball game. Who woulda thunk Lackey would out-Verlander Verlander (by the slimmest of margins)!

Re: Detroit Tigers
Looks to me like it will be Boston vs. St. Louis.

Re: Detroit Tigers
Is there something important happening in baseball this month?

Re: Detroit Tigers
For Toronto, I don't think anything has happened in baseball in October for 20 years (when they beat Lenny Dykstra, Darren Daulton, John "I Ain't No Athlete, I'm A Ball Player" Kruk and some kid named Curt Schilling in 6 with a 3-run walk-off homer).Scooter wrote:Is there something important happening in baseball this month?

No, it doesn't hurt at all; why do you ask?

Don't worry...they beat the starter this time!Long Run wrote:That was pretty amazing. I am always glad to see a team's relievers blow the save when the manager follows modern orthodoxy by pulling a pitcher that has good stuff going.
And note: pulling Lackey in the 7th worked out PERFECTLY.

I'm sorry, are there baseball games still being played?
I thought the season was over...
