Sorry Mr Pres, I was shitfaced...

Post by Gob »

A BRITISH teenager who sent an email to the White House calling President Obama a "pr*ck" has been banned from America for life.

The FBI asked local police to tell college student Luke Angel, 17, his drunken insult was "unacceptable".

Angel told The Sun he fired off a single email criticising the US Government after seeing a TV program about the 9/11 attacks.

He said, "I don't remember exactly what I wrote as I was drunk. But I think I called Barack Obama a pr*ck. It was silly - the sort of thing you do when you're a teenager and have had a few."

Angel, of Bedford, in central England, said it was "a bit extreme" for the FBI to act. "The police came and took my picture and told me I was banned from America forever. I don't really care but my parents aren't very happy."

.

A Bedford Police spokesman confirmed they had spoken to Angel about the email. Officers will take no criminal action.

Joanne Ferreira, of the US Department of Homeland Security, said there were about 60 reasons a person can be barred from visiting America.

She said, "We are prohibited from discussing specific cases."

"Banned for life"
is a bit harsh for a teenage pissed rant...
“If you trust in yourself, and believe in your dreams, and follow your star. . . you'll still get beaten by people who spent their time working hard and learning things and weren't so lazy.”

"The police came and took my picture and told me I was banned from America forever"
Okay...

So the only verification we have for this "banned for life" business comes from the 17 year old kid....

We have no way of knowing if the cops just told him that, or if it even happened...

What we do know is that no criminal charges are being pursued against him....

We also don't know what the kid actually wrote; we don't have the text of the email...

All we have is this stunningly credible account:

""I don't remember exactly what I wrote as I was drunk. But I think I called Barack Obama a pr*ck. It was silly - the sort of thing you do when you're a teenager and have had a few."

Well, since he doesn't remember what he wrote, (having been by his own admission shitfaced at the time) perhaps he wrote, "I'm going to come to Washington and blow your head off"...

This story has more holes than John Dillinger's last suit...

But "Kid Get's Banned From America For Life For Calling The President A Prick"...sure sounds like a great story, doesn't it?

Just one more thing that people blame the current administration for that happened during a previous one.
A sufficiently copious dose of bombast drenched in verbose writing is lethal to the truth.

You don't know that Tyro....

We have no idea what was in the email...

Maybe he was emailing Obama to express his outrage over the fact that he hadn't arrested Bush for being behind the 9/11 attacks...

This documentary was on European television, afterall.... 8-)

According to Bedfordshire Police, Mr Angel was banned by the US because he sent "an email to the White House full of abusive and threatening language."
The police also photographed him, not for their own records I presume...

I would think the sate department would have to comply with some internal procedures to ban someone from entry--I don't think one individual could do it alone.

I have been told that border guards can put someone on the no-entry list AND there is no avenue for appeal.

Tit for tat I say!

Conservative Talk Show Host Michael Savage has been banned form Britain, this smacks as "payback"!

Your collective inability to acknowledge this obvious truth makes you all look like fools.

full of abusive and threatening language
Well abusive language is not a threat, and is not illegal. There is is nothing illegal about calling Obama a prick, or anything else....

If he made threats, that's a different matter. We would really need to know the text of the email. We certainly can't take this Einstein's word for what he sent. By his own admission he doesn't even remember....

I have to say that this lad sounds like a real prize...Definitely Oxford material....

If you want a laugh, check out some of the comments appended to the lined article. I don't know the Sun, but if this is representative of their readership I'd say avoid it at all costs. It's scary.

The Sun is a daily tabloid newspaper published in the United Kingdom and Ireland (where it is known as The Irish Sun) with an average circulation of 3,009,987 copies a day in August 2010, making it the biggest-selling newspaper in the UK. A separate Scottish Sun is published and printed in Glasgow with a circulation of about 344,000 copies daily (August 2010) The total daily readership is approximately 7,700,000.

By circulation it is the tenth biggest newspaper in any language in the world, It reaches 2.9 million readers in the ABC1 demographic and 5.0 million in the C2DE demographic, compared to the 1.5 and 0.1 million respectively of its broadsheet stablemate The Times. It is published by News Group Newspapers of News International, itself a subsidiary of Rupert Murdoch's News Corporation.

The Sun's headlines and presentation of news have made it a consistent subject of controversy and criticism throughout Rupert Murdoch's ownership.

BTW:
Bedfordshire police, who then visited Luke, said the e-mail was full of abusive and threatening language.

"He was told that he wouldn't be able to go to America," they added.

A spokeswoman said it was a case of a boy "being silly" and no criminal action was being taken.

"We were informed by the Metropolitan Police and so we went round to see him," she said.

So if the Met and Bedfordshire police are saying they have been informed the kid is banned, there may be some truth in it.
After all I have written at the other place about Mr Chimp esq, I don't think I'm going to be visiting the US soon then either...

So it's the UK's version of FOX. Great.

Except it doesn't actually say that. Bedforeshire police don't say that Met Police told them that the kid was banned. "We were informed by the Metropolitan Police..." of the existence of the email and the investigation presumably. Then, as to how the kid found out: "He was told that he wouldn't be able to go to America." By whom? They don't say that they told him.

The story just doesn't hang together properly. The U.S. Citizenship and Immigration website says this about denied applications:
If an unfavorable decision is made (your case is denied and/or you are ordered removed), you will receive a notice explaining why the decision in your case was unfavorable.

This notice will also explaining if you can file an appeal. With certain exceptions, you may file motions to reopen or reconsider decisions made in your case.

Administrative appeals are only available on certain kinds of cases. If an appeal or motion is available to you; how to file one is explained in the decision we mailed to you.

Forms to file an appeal are available in the "Forms" section of this site.
Let's for a moment leave aside the fact that USCIS is allegedly denying an application to enter the country when no such application was ever made.

Applicants are informed of denials, the reasons therefor, and of their rights of appeal. in writing. Not by passing it along by word of mouth so that it's fourth hand info by the time to person in question.

But then I thought - he must have been added to the no-fly list. But that doesn't make sense either, because they never confirm or deny that someone is on the list, even after he/she has been prohibited from getting on a plane.

Me thinks someone is embellishing somewhat
