I saw that feature but at that time I had no idea when or if I would be closing the poll. I'll go back and look.

Seriously? A popularity poll? WTF?
Based on what? And what would any rational person consider the margins statistically? Do we need a Mediator?

This is complete BULLSHIT and Fuck You and Fuck That! That is three minutes that I will never get back. Thank you very little.* :fu :fu :fu

Joe Guy;

Have you ever noticed what happens in classic fairy stories when someone fails to invite the evil crone to the party?

Well you've seen it now.

I'd check and see if a thorn hedge is growing up around your house.

Case in point. Plausible dependability just left the building.

No.

It's not a popularity poll.

Now go away.

Not everything is everyone's cup of tea. I'm not exactly sure why Joe chose to create this poll or structure it as he did, but I assume he thought some people would enjoy it and apparently they are; I haven't seen anyone have a gun put to their head to force their participation. Likewise some folks are having fun in the "banning" thread which is something else that I don't really get, since the one banning experience that we actually did have to deal with was painful, but to each his own.

Then there are those who are not content to let others have their fun and leave it alone if it's not their thing, and insist on pissing in everyone else's cornflakes. That's fine too if that's what they feel they need to do.

JG:

Well I did warn you. When Timster isn't invited, by name, to a popularity contest he does get quite nasty about it.

You should have stayed a Seventh-Day-Adventist. Their teachings on diet, exercise and nutrition are very effective in eliminating the risk of heart disease until very advanced old age. I think I have 1 uncle who needed bypass surgery in his 80's but absent misadventure ( a great uncle who fell head-first into a well bore and asphyxiated ) the SDAers all made it to the later 90s and early 100s on their own. My oldest auntie is going to make 102 next April.

The recognition from your peers. What more can a person ask for?

Well, a brand new cherry red convertible for a start...

Answer # 2

Yes, I knew that and limited this thread to only one Tim.

Our vote counters from PricewaterhouseCoopers LLP are now finalizing the votes. They've been kept in a #2 mayonnaise jar on Funk and Wagnall's porch since noon yesterday.

I will be back after these messages....

Okay... Ladies and Gentleman... the votes for Plan B's Person of the Year 2013 have been counted.

(I've provided a sign language interpreter for the hearing challenged)

Recognition for the third highest amount of votes goes to the distinguishable gentleman from Santa Cruz California......

rubato!!!

We have a tie for the second highest amount of votes. The award goes to....
a man we all know and respect.....

oldr_n_wsr!!

and... to a man we all know....

Lord Jim!!!!

And now we have a special honoree for Plan B's Person of the Year 2013. This year is noteworthy because it is the first time a woman has received this award.

And here she is - A woman known for her strong opinions on issues of the day, her odd taste in music, her unique political views and her ability to understand AndrewD when he writes a 250,000 word essay on legal issues that nobody really cares about.

The highly anticipated Recipient of Plan B's Person of the Year 2013 award is... the one and only............

SueU!!!!!!!

Speeches are highly encouraged but not necessary...

Re: Plan B's Person of the Year Award - OOPS! I forgot Alice

Post by Joe Guy »

As an addendum... based on a rule I just made up because I'm not going to redo this.... Alice is not in third place with 5 votes because SueU voted for her 3 times.

However, Alice gets the Extra Special Award (ESA) for being extra special.

So I win because I didn't vote and I didn't engage in the up-sucking everyone else did.

Hooray for me!

Actually rube the significance of your being a winner, (third place, BTW) is that it proves conclusively that this was not a "popularity contest"... :P

That's not much of a speech but I guess it will have to do.

Thank you very much and congratulations on your achievement.

Wow .... :ta: :-D

Thanks, Lord Jim for your very kind comments in the news and suggestions thread, and for directing me to here.
I know it's only an online forum and this is just a bit of fun, but I'm honestly, genuinely, touched. I really thought my presence was almost unnoticed and it's meant a lot to see that I was thought about in this way, even though I've been extremely sporadic in my presence and posts.
Thanks especially Sue U - I only hope I live up to such wonderfully high accolades and never disappoint.
Much appreciated :-)
