Ever heard of a river called the Nile, that goes right into the heart of Africa? Ever heard of the Atlantic and Indian Oceans, that surround the west and east coasts of the continent? Ever heard of these contraptions called "boats" that are used to travel on water?

I have to say I question whether watching people for hours slowly die of dehydration and exposure, followed by hours of watching desert animals consume their rotting remains would really make for compelling television...

Unless of course the only other thing on was a cricket match...

I didn't watch it as I am not a big fan of musicals. The wife did and she said it was good.

I normally wouldn’t waste my limited time with a none serious poster and I surely won’t imitate your psychological need for insults, but I will say this: As you frequently do you are not clear at what you refer. I will assume that you are referring ancient immigrants since even you would know that with modern technology the desert is no longer the barrier it once was. So you believe that ancient black Africans traveled down the Nile valley on their way to Europe, perhaps to spend a little time at their summer places. Well in a way they did, it is called the out of Africa migration, but it took them about twenty thousand years or so and they changed to adapt to the climate on the way; when they reached Europe they were no longer black and the summer retreat had rotted down. I doubt if very many if any did it during recorded history until relatively recent times. Ancient people didn’t like foreigner crossing their territory; they tended to see strangers as a threat. You do realize that the desert stretches from the Atlantic to the red sea. However, a dugout canoe along the coast would be more possible, one could carry more water, but I still don’t think it would be likely. Why don’t you try it and see if it can be done?

You ever watched survivor. You don’t really think that any production company would allow contestants to die do you. There have been foot races across the Sahara, but those runner where supplied with plenty of water from support vehicles. On second thought it might be too dangerous an enterprise for a company to under take. People won’t always be honest about how they are feeling when large amounts of money is involved.

I think liberty's on to something though.... I googled maps for "Sahara desert" and wouldn't you know it.... little Google guy refused to travel at all, even on the road to Ghat. He just bounced right back!

I tried him in all sorts of places in Austria and he worked just fine.
