Man, That Was A HELLUVA Quarter!

Post by Lord Jim »

I had been watching the Niners-Packers game off and on, but decided to watch the full last quarter...

Boy, I'm really glad I did; that was the most exciting finish I've seen in a long time...

The lead changed hands four times during the game...

With less than 14 minutes to play, the Niners lead 13-10...

Then the Packers take the lead with a TD, and then the Niners come right back with another...

Then the Packers drive down field, but the Niners stop them at the six, so they have to settle for a field goal, and now it's 20 all with about five minutes on the clock, and the Niners are down to one time out...

After the kickoff goes through the end zone the Niners take over at their own 20...

They get a quick first down, but then face a third and 10...

It's a 17 yard completion to Crabtree! 1st down!

Clock still running...

Then they're up against the wall again, with third and nine from the Packer's 38...

And Kaepernick scampers for 11 for another 1st down!

A few more running plays, another first down, the Packers are out of time outs and the Niners use their last with three seconds on the clock...

And Phil Dawson barely escapes having his kick blocked to narrowly nail a 33 yarder for the win at the closing gun!

Now THAT ladies and gentlemen, is great football! :ok

I was rooting for the Packers. But it was a good game. All the games were good this weekend. Can't believe the Indy/KC game. I thought it was over early in the third. Went out to dinner at Lombardi's on the Bay. They had a TV at the bar and I couldn't believe what was happening. I could see the bay and the TV from my seat in the dining room. Nice comeback.

Congrats on your 'niners LJ.

Yes but the TV commentator said that the Packer's left-offensive-linebacking-quarterback-wing attack caused a foul play because at the exact moment the ball entered the twilight zone the bicycle was shining on his knee and the bread was in the middle of the road!
Why is it that when Miley Cyrus gets naked and licks a hammer it's 'art' and 'edgy' but when I do it I'm 'drunk' and 'banned from the hardware store'?

Oh dear me...

It appears that the Aussie channel with the rights to air the game in Australia sent a cricket commentator to do their broadcast...

No wonder what he said made no sense; speaking gibberish is all he knows...

You should have watched the US coverage on-line Sean...

Then you'd understand it perfectly... 8-)

I don't think there are any real shleps left in the playoffs at this point...

However at the end of the day, I think it's very unlikely that anybody is going to get past the Seahawks...

Of course, I remember just a couple of years ago, a lot of folks saying the exact same thing about the Detroit Tigers... 8-)

Well, I think the AFC's best chance against the Seahawks is the Broncos, and I'd love to see that matchup in the Super Bowl. In the NFC, I'd give a reasonable chance to the 49ers, and I wouldn't count the saints out--it depends which saints team shows up. But any of the other teams has a chance; I don't see and shleps either.

And the Patriots. But the Giants had other ideas.

If I were a betting man, Denver and Seattle would be my pick. But as they say, "On any given Sunday" or Saturday.

With no dog in this hunt, I hope for competitive games. The KC/Indy game was one for the ages. The others were good TV also. Hope this weekend is just as entertaining.

*Never* count the Pats out. Especially this year, given all of the significant injuries and losses, and how the team has still managed to win win win.

Saturday night is going to be rainy and cold -- the kind of weather Tom and the boys *love* to play in. Very different than the controlled conditions of the IndyDome. We shall see how Indy's Luck does in the crucible of Foxboro, in the post-season.

Yes, our house that Peyton built. Too bad you New Englanders can't afford indoor entertainment and luxury. ;p

See above, Pat the Patriot plays *real* sports, not the indoor pansy-assed kind :nana

(and don't even get me started on how you stole that team, and how you broke the hearts of my hometown. I despise the faux Coltz and spit on the Irsays)

Come on Guin, let's not pretend, football is a business pure and simple; there's no room for city loyalty (or player loyalty for that matter, look how quick Indy dumped Peyton after he built their "house"; I wouldn't mind seeing him get some payback). I've stuck with the Rams through all their cities because I like the team (sometimes just as a default), not the city they play in or even the manager (I couldn't stand Georgia Frontiere). But players and owners follow the money, and I can't blame them for that.

When Peyton came back with the Broncos you could feel the love. He is a fine man and much missed here but I do get why they let him go. Not easy though.

I know your pain, I'm a Jet fan. (thus the hate for the Pats, BB should have been my coach!!!!)

I do have to say that through all these years, BB consistently puts out a dominant team no matter what. Always in position to win the division and do damage in the playoffs. It sickens me. :o but then again, he does haveTom Brady, which he can thank the Jets for as they knocked Bledsoe out of the game thus giving Brady his shot

Don't want it. Arena football sucks! The only time football should be played in a dome is in an underwater habitat!

Also:
Go, Saints! (Probably not...)
Go, Bolts!

GO, PATS!
