Well, that rain system was the weather equivalent of The Comet Kohoutek... :?
Bay Area weather: when it rains, it sprinkles

The Bay Area saw its first rain since early December with scattered sprinkles late Wednesday and early Thursday, but the scant precipitation totals recorded in most cities will do little to calm fears of an ongoing drought.

Residents in San Francisco woke up to wet streets, but forecasters with the National Weather Service said just three-hundredths of an inch of rain fell in the downtown area.

San Jose recorded about a tenth of an inch, while Mount Diablo received the most rain - about eighteen-hundredths of an inch.

The rain is expected to taper off throughout Thursday as the system moves south, and lingering showers aren't expected to add significantly to rainfall totals, said Austin Cross, a weather service forecaster.

There is a chance of more showers Sunday, as the tail end of a weather system could clip the Bay Area. Rainfall totals from that system are expected to be similar to, or fall short of, the totals from the most recent system, forecasters said. :(

From what I was seeing on the Doppler radar yesterday, last night, and this morning, it seemed like there was a lot more passing just north of the Bay Area and on into the Reno area, so maybe the Sierra snow pack fared a bit better than we did...

We're heading off for a week down at the coast tomorrow, haven't had a holiday since November...

Oh wait, we did have the best part of a week for Xmas...

...and four days off for my birthday....
Terrible weather forecast for the area we're staying in

Another 4-8" expected today. We have about 3" already. This is a crappy snow. Wet and heavy. The last couple of snowfalls were the light and fluffy type.

And how come when it rains they just say it's raining but any time it snows they call it a snow storm?

My thermometer read 50F yesterday. All that worrying about the weather for hte SB was much ado about nothing.
Too bad todays "storm" didn't come yesterday.

We got more rainfall yesterday than was expected, and we're expecting more mid-week...

But we still have a long way to go...

We got snow Saturday, about 3 more inches. Tuesday night into Wednesday it's up for anyone's guess, 4-7 inches, then more over the weekend.

Eight inches yeasterday when all was said and done. They are talking about another 2-4 tonight into tomorrow morning. Something big is being predicted for Sunday/Monday.

I had fun plowing out the driveway, plowing the across the street neighbors cars out of the plow drift and doing my next door neighbors driveway. I like driving the tractor and plowing. More fun than a man should have.

All that and I still went to my meeting.

We got about 6 or 7 inches of really heavy wet snow yesterday, and they're calling for the proverbial "wintry mix" overnight tonight. Rush hour in the morning should be a joy.  Can I tell you? I am so done with winter now.

About 6inches of snow then sleet/rain. Came into work late after plowing out my driveway and two of my neighbors driveways and the cars parked on the street of the people across from me.
This was heart attack, shovel breaking snow. Heavy and wet.
