Home for Random Thoughts
Re: Home for Random Thoughts
Is it time to go home yet?
Okay... There's all kinds of things wrong with what you just said.
Re: Home for Random Thoughts
Most people who think themselves "free thinkers" are simply swallowing someone else's narrative packaged as being "independent thought".

Re: Home for Random Thoughts
Quite true...
Like the way Steve ( who considered himself to be one of the freest of thinkers) would rail against people who he saw as unquestioningly accepting any information from authoritative sources, and then turn right around and accept any narrative provided by the conspiracy bloggers as true without questioning it...

I don't charge any one for my thoughts, I would think that would make me a free thinker
Sometimes it seems as though one has to cross the line just to figger out where it is
Re: Home for Random Thoughts
What is this I'm seeing hearing now at retail establishments and seeing in some email correspondence, where instead of saying, "have a nice day" or "have a good day" or "have a great day", people are saying, "have an amazing day"?
I don't think people have thought that one out properly...Wishing people to have an "amazing day" isn't necessarily wishing them well...
I can think of all sorts of things that could happen to you that would qualify as "amazing" but wouldn't necessarily be considered "good"...
You could get struck by lightening, or hit by a meteorite, or mauled by a grizzly bear, or abducted by aliens, or fall off the roof of a 10 story building and live, (while breaking every bone in your body)...
All of those things would be pretty "amazing", things to have happen, but none of them would be called "good"...

Re: Home for Random Thoughts
It never ceases to amaze me how people use words thoughtlessly. I've always believed that nobody should use words carelessly or create rambling sentences that sometimes go on and on and on with repetitive ideas or suggestions that make you not want to finish reading a sentence you began to read with interest before you got so far into it that you no longer wanted to read it because it got boring.

In fact back in the 90's I had a fantasy involving her and Jeri Ryan...
I'm assuming there won't be any requests for more information...

There is a river in Crimea. Did anyone ever sing about it?
Re: Home for Random Thoughts
That only looks like a river from the air...
It's actually a convoy of Russian troop transports...

Do we need to brace ourselves?

No it's going to snow again Saturday and a major snow storm will hit us Tues/Wed. It's not over yet.

That's the spirit -- snow in March must mean baseball is ready to return to the Northeast.
Re: Home for Random Thoughts
Well, look on the bright side...
Any snow that comes now probably won't last long; it'll melt into a slushy muddy mess before you know it...
I think there's something stronger than Geritol involved...
It appears Old Man Winter has developed a serious meth habit...

They've gotten 30 inches of snow this year in DC (out in the burbs where my sister lives it's more like 40) 75 inches in Chicago, 47 (and counting) in Boston, and Indianapolis has had it's largest total snowfall since they started keeping records...Who the hell keeps giving old man winter his Geritol?

OTOH, they've been setting record HIGHS in Alaska and northwestern Canada all winter, and I seem to recall someone here on this very board complaining about the LACK of snow in the Sierra Nevadas....
