There's been no reports of people suffering adverse reactions after taking the remedies.A batch of homeopathic remedies have been recalled in the US after it was discovered that they contained real medicine.
Terra-Medica is voluntarily recalling 56 lots of homeopathic drug products in liquid, tablet, capsule, ointment, and suppository forms after it was discovered the alternative treatments potentially contained penicillin or derivatives of penicillin.
Homeopathic remedies normally consists of highly diluted solutions of natural substances that supposedly "trigger the body’s natural healing process". Terra-Medical's recalled remedies are "designed" to relieve inflammations and combat infection, among other things.
It is unclear how the remedies were contaminated with antibiotics.
The recalled pills have the potential to cause serious adverse reactions to anyone allergic to penicillin.
"In patients who are allergic to beta-lactam antibiotics, even at low levels, exposure to penicillin can result in a range of allergic reactions from mild rashes to severe and life-threatening anaphylactic reactions," Terra-Medica statement (republished on the US Food and Drug Administration website) explains. "To date, Terra-Medica has not received any reports of adverse events related to this recall, nor any reports of product tests indicating penicillin content in the products."
The affected products were distributed across the US through health care practitioners, who may have sold the products through websites. Terra-Medica is notifying customers and distributors to arrange for return of all recalled products.

Or of any verifiable cures . . .
Re: Homeopathic remedy recall
What a strange sentence...It is unclear how the remedies were contaminated with antibiotics.
Kind of like:
"it is unclear how the Superman cape was replaced with a functioning parachute"....

Re: Homeopathic remedy recall
Since a homeopathic "drug" is supposed to have 1 part "medicine" to about 1 trillion parts non-active ingredient, it's very likely that a homeo-scientist screwed up the dilution process.
Re: Homeopathic remedy recall
There are a lot of supposedly natural remedies that are laced with pharmaceutical compounds. Hardly a week passes without Health Canada seizing some Chinese herbal concoction for erectile dysfunction that is loaded with sildenafil.

Advocates claim that the lower the concentration of a substance, the more potent it becomes. This concept, often referred to as the "Law of Infinitestimals," is the equivalent of saying that the less sugar you put into a cup of coffee, the sweeter it will become. This is just the opposite of the dose-response relationship that pharmacologists have demonstrated.

For Christianity, by identifying truth with faith, must teach-and, properly understood, does teach-that any interference with the truth is immoral. A Christian with faith has nothing to fear from the facts

Back when I was doing forensic chemistry we would get chinese 'remedies' to test periodically. An amazing number of them amounted to swamp water + everclear; roughly 40% alcohol.
