I'm a smoker but I never (never say never) use the world as an ash tray. In my car I have a cup filled with baking soda and just stick the butt in that. Puts it out without having to stub it out. I never through them out of the window as also being a motorcycle rider I have been on the receiving end of butts thrown out of car windows. If I am somewhere that doesn't have an ashtray, I snub it out on the bottom of my shoe and put it in my pocket for disposal later. (make sure it's really snubbed out before putting it in your pocket, found that out the hard way)
