Hmm...
The internet is buzzing today about the viral video that shows a hero cat saving a boy from a vicious dog. On the surface, it’s an awesome video. However, if you take a closer look and are objective about what you see, you soon realize this might be another Jimmy Kimmel hoax.
Here are 10 strange things about “My Cat Saved My Son” that make me think it is fake:
1. Why did the mother run to the boy and then run away without him? It’d be maternal instinct to either stay with her son or carry him away.[or pursue the "vicious" wild dog that had just attacked her son...her reaction; leaving the kid and running towards the house... makes no sense]
2. If the boy was as badly hurt as the end of the video suggests, how does he get up like nothing is wrong?[I've watched it four times, and I don't see the dog grabbing anything other than the edge of the kid's shorts]
3. Where is the blood?
4. At the 29 second mark, is that water spraying? How does that fit with the rest of the footage?
5. Did the child just happen to stop in the exact spot that created the perfect camera angle?
6. Speaking of cameras, who has so many crystal clear cameras on their property?[This the thing that jumped out at me immediately...I can understand that they're filming their kid playing on his bike, but they just "happen" to have another camera running that follows the dog as he comes up and readies himself for the attack, and again as the cat chases the dog off?]
7. At the end of the video, why doesn’t the cat run toward the child?[won't make too much of that; cat's are notoriously bad at following stage direction...]
8. If this footage was from yesterday, wouldn’t the parents have something better to do than make a viral-friendly YouTube video?
9. The mother claims she was bitten by the dog. Where does that happen on the video?[those "wound" pictures at the end look more badly faked then the ones you see in a low budget 70's slasher movie; and again there's no evidence whatsoever in the video that either the son or the mother could have sustained those kinds of injuries...when did the dog bite either of them in the stomach?]
10. The incident took place in California, the home of Hollywood. Hmmm…
It might be real but there are enough suspicious aspects for me to have second thoughts.

The video was edited but it sure looks real.
1. Why did the mother run to the boy and then run away without him? It’d be maternal instinct to either stay with her son or carry him away.
Maybe she was chasing the dog.
2. If the boy was as badly hurt as the end of the video suggests, how does he get up like nothing is wrong?
People can do things like that when in a state of shock.
3. Where is the blood?
Where is it supposed to be? The wounds were cleaned up in the photo.
4. At the 29 second mark, is that water spraying? How does that fit with the rest of the footage?
Maybe the mother was watering something with a hose and turned around and dropped it when she heard her kid.
5. Did the child just happen to stop in the exact spot that created the perfect camera angle?
Part of the attack is blocked by the tree.
6. Speaking of cameras, who has so many crystal clear cameras on their property?
These people do. There are some great security cameras out there.

It kind of does for a minute but why should it?

Well, I've now seen a couple of news reports on this reporting that the dog belonged to a neighbor and that the police have said they have it quarantined pending euthanasia...
Since it's unlikely that the Bakersfield police would be participating in hoax, I have to concede that as phony as this thing looks, it appears to be on the level...

The cat in California who was caught on video saving a boy from a dog has been invited to "throw" the first pitch at a baseball game.
Tara would appear at the next home game of the minor league team Bakersfield Blaze, its representatives said.
"It sounds crazy. But we've got a trick up our sleeve," team member Dan Besbris said, without giving further details.
