Coming to the nadir?
Coming to the nadir?
One story after another about the "failed" presidency of the once golden boy. Here we are, where the once fawning press (MSM) now has finally found some minor objectivity and has started regularly running articles and editorials highlighting how and why things have gone wrong. Does this seem like a familiar pattern? An interesting, magnetizing person comes on the scene. Then follow many generally positive articles. Why? That's what sells. Then said person gets old, his/her traits wear on mainstream people and even on supporters. Then the media ship turns, very slowly in this case, and then every wart is described and we have a deeply troubled POTUS. Why? That's what sells. What comes next? The rebound, of course. The economy is showing signs of real life, real progress in jobs and more and more people seeing the impact of an improving economy. There will be a few bright points abroad (not that that is ever the long term important issue for U.S. voters), and an opposition that shoots itself in the foot (hey, it's happened once or twice before!). And the comeback of Obama will be along in 2015 sometime. Why? Because that's what sells. Just a guess, but go ahead and remind me mid-next year.
