Pentacostals have a female "uniform".

There are a number of conservative Christian sects that mandate modest and even "uniform" type dress for their female members...and sometimes male members too (like the Amish)

Not to mention the Mormons, with their magic underwear...

The big difference is they don't have the power of the state to back them up and force every woman to adhere to their dress codes whether they want to or not, under penalty of criminal punishment...

True. Perhaps I should have used the word "theocracy" instead of--or in addition to--the word "fundamentalism" in my "correction" above.

ETA: on second thought, religious fundamentalism--with or without state power behind it--really is the problem. Just look at the Buddhist fundamentalist violence against Muslims in Burma/Myanmar for a surprising (and depressing) example.

extremist would be best. Fundamentalist really only means adherent to core beliefs. while all extremists would claim (at least) to be fundamentalists all fundamentalists are not extremists.
