Why are the offspring of domestic cats called "kittens" when the offspring of wild cats are called "cubs"?

Because wild cats don't give birth to kittens.

They give birth to cubs.

I think it's a statement on their chances of winning the World Series.
Okay... There's all kinds of things wrong with what you just said.

That's not a bad theory, since cubs born in the wild have a very good chance of not surviving ... 8-)

Actually, I always thought small wild cats, like bobcats, had kittens, while larger ones (lions, tigers, cougars, etc.) had cubs. If I recall correctly, foxes have kits.

The Chicago explanation makes as much sense as anything I have heard.

I have a headache, and a conference call at 4PM, then meetings at 630 and 730. I'd really rather just go home and take a nap.

I can't put my finger on exactly why, (maybe it's his facial expression) but there's something about that kid in the Toaster Strudel commercials that I really find creepy... :?

A shout out to the manufacturers of Just For Men hair dye for improving their formula in a way that causes it to drip a lot less :ok

I find the new formula drips a lot more. I have to use barrier cream around hubbys head to stop streaking.

"Rubbish!" replied Lord Jim. "I said 'less' and I meant it!"

That's really odd; I've had exactly the opposite experience...I assumed the reason was because the coloring agent that you mix in is is thicker than it used to be...

No, I'm serious; it really does seem to drip a lot less... 8-)
I can't imagine dying my hair.
And I can't imagine riding a motorcycle, so I guess that makes us even... 8-)

(I believe I've mentioned this before, I've been dying my hair for about five years now; I've had some greying in my sideburns and a few strands here and there. Not acceptable.)
