The Cost of Hair Maintenance
Re: The Cost of Hair Maintenance
A one and a two...
Stopped into a Church...
I passed along the way...
I'd be safe and warm....
If I was in LA....
Well, I got down on my knees..and I began to pray...
California dreamin'....
On such a winters' day..

Exactly!rubato wrote:My wife sees someone every few months (and used to fly down from Portland to do so). She was irritated when I pointed out that on an hourly basis he charges more than she, a surgeon, makes. But we both always tip well. Why not? Life is short, spread joy
ETA: Fwiw I've been having Melissa do my hair for 15 years now - through pregnancies and illnesses and salon changes. I even take my Mom to see her from time to time. I'm thankful I have her since I'm incredibly picky about who gets to mess with my hair. A good tip is a given.

How do the Mamas & Papas relate to the topic of people tipping their hairdoodlers?
Is there a meaning that I'm missing - or was it simply a musical commercial and then we'll return to the topic?
Or has the topic run its course and nothing further needs to be said and we are now in topic drift mode?

I think he's trying to distract us from his combover.
Okay... There's all kinds of things wrong with what you just said.

Yes, you might think that...I think he's trying to distract us from his combover.
You might very well think that...

Re: The Cost of Hair Maintenance
I haven't paid for the haircut since the 90's. Got me a buzzer and do it myself. #1 all over the head, although I'm thinking of changing to a #0 on the sides and a #1 on top. Seems the sides grow faster than the top (less hair up there). Maybe I should start tipping myself.
Re: The Cost of Hair Maintenance
I usually get my hair cut monthly, usually just a trim and thinning out; $20 and I usually tip $5, sometimes a bit more. I've used the same hairdresser for the past 10 years, and another in that shop before him, and just like the way he cuts my hair and the end product. It's a busy shop, though, and usually takes around 20-30 minutes or so, hence the price. He says he's getting ready to retire, and it will be a big problem to find someone else--most others I've used (when he was out) tend to cut my hair too short for my taste--so we'll see.
Re: The Cost of Hair Maintenance
There's a salon next to the shop where I work, and the salon owner cuts my hair. It's taken her a while to figure out how; I don't think she'd ever cut hair quite this curly. the first few attempts need a bit of clean up and evening out...

Curly? I thought that was just a rat in your hair.

You're probably right.Long Run wrote:Think he was singing to Econoline's hippy look, but I could be mistaken.Guinevere wrote:And the relevance, LJ????
LJ is saying that Econoline looks like Mama Cass.
I doubt that very much, but Jim is very good at data mining so he could be right.
