Well, cynical fellow that I am, I thought this might be the case so I had to check it out (I really was hoping I was wrong...):
Airline's lost-and-found dog is a fake, but he's the cutest commercial conman

On Tuesday, KLM Royal Dutch Airlines released a video featuring a furry, four-footed worker named Sherlock, who reunited passengers with the items they left behind. But as it turns out, the adorable and awfully helpful beagle isn't really on the payroll. It was all just part of an ad.

Still, who can blame viral video fans for wanting to believe? Navigating airports, making it through security, enduring delays and losing luggage are all-too-common parts of travel. Throw in a talented pup who can save us from at least one woe, and we're suddenly living the dream.

But it's time to wake up!

The advertising agency behind it all revealed the ruse.

"We were told that the members of KLM’s Lost & Found team sometimes track down passengers before they even realize they’ve lost something," Alex Herwig and Jeroen Thissen, representatives at DDB & Tribal Worldwide, told MediaBistro. "We feel they are a bit like detectives. So to illustrate that KLM goes above and beyond for their passengers, we decided to involve a search dog."

Ruff stuff, but the facts behind the story don't change it for TODAY's Hoda Kotb, who after learning all the details, declared, "I choose to believe it!"

If you can't keep the faith like Kotb, at least rest assured that there are plenty of dogs out there doing real jobs that make our lives easier every day.

I was probably the last kid my age to stop believing in Santa Claus, so that I fell for this is unsurprising.

I still think that the idea is genius, and would work.

I agree. I bet it would work.

Almost every business can be improved by just saying "and a puppy". We wash your windows and ... let you borrow a puppy! Done buying groceries? There is a puppy corral right there for you to visit before you drive away. A plain old Carwash could become, Carwash and puppy play pen! People who actually have a puppy could donate its use during the work day which helps socialize the dog and provides a stimulating environment.

Dogs make it a better world.

I could do without being licked by dogs.
Okay... There's all kinds of things wrong with what you just said.

I prefer cats.
Personally, I don’t believe in bros before hoes, or hoes before bros. There needs to be a balance. A homie-hoe-stasis, if you will.

The more I know of people, the more I love [my] dogs.
